That's something I've noticed as well. He jumps really high while finishing around the rim. 1:34 2:45 3:37 5:10 5:29 Those are some smooth makes. Some of them are over tall players, too. It doesn't seem like he'll be as useless as VanVleet inside the arc. Midrange also is looking great. Donte DiVincenzo with elite shooting is a realistic projection for Reed imo. And that's one hell of a player.
Trust me people, there is nothing I want more than to see my fellow Clutchfans happy. Seriously. But I'm telling you, if the Rockets choose Reed, the amount of complaints on here would be absolutely unbearable because he would not get playing time. Even if the team went on a huge 15-20 game win streak, Ime would be called all kinds of loser coach because Clutchfan's darling honey drop Reed would not be playing.
It was like that with the last class until injuries made Ime have to trust Amen and Cam in late January.
I agree with both of you that CF will go crazy and I’m afraid that Ime is still going to begin with Brooks over Amen in the starting line-up unless he is traded. I still like Sheppard at 3 if we keep the pick and Sarr is gone. I am an absolute no on Rischacher. He is just a coattail off of Wemby. Sheppard won’t get any playing time unless Jalen sh*ts the bed.
I think most people should be prepared for bad management of player minutes next season no matter what. Jalen will keep getting minutes despite not deserving them because it's his last chance with the team. Amen almost certainly won't start over Beooks despite the fact that Brooks is terrible because he's Ime's guy and the team is stuck with him. Reed Sheppard wouldn't start over FVV... and he shouldn't. The starting PG spot would be his to earn in his second season. The second unit will probably be better than the starters and that's just something we have to learn to accept.
These highlight videos can make him look like a great finisher, but I think that's actually where he struggles. In the first 20 or so minutes of this video (which also shows misses) I noticed many times where he gets stuffed at the rim or can't finish. For him to reach his ceiling, I think he needs to be more of a midrange assassin than a finisher. Finishing at the rim will only get tougher in the league, but he can definitely be that midrange assassin, a la CP3. If he is truly a generational shooter, he will be worth the pick.
If the Rockets draft Reed, I won't be surprised that he will not get a lot of minutes at the beginning. He will have to earn his way to the rotation, just like Cam did last season. Some people might whine about it. But most reasonable people will accept it as the right coaching decision. It looks like Holiday is leaving the team. Reed will compete with Amen for the backup PG minutes. He may also compete with Cam for the backup SG spot if Amen is showing PG skills. Reed's PT will hinge on Amen's ability to play PG and Jalen's status with the team. Both of those things are quite uncertain at this point. If both of Jalen and Amen break out, Reed won't see a lot of time until FVV is gone. Of course, this is assuming the Rockets won't trade for a star level player at the SG spot.
FINALLY! The Coach and Easy have come back to the same page!! Thank you. This is the reason why I think the rumors of him not wanting to come to Houston may be true. Truthfully a duo of him and Wemby is very intriguing. They still need a couple more pieces to have a chance at dealing with the Rockets though.
No one we draft is going to play right away, unless they earn it, expect anyone we draft to go to the Gleague for most of the year. DD
I think San Antonio will tank again, in hopes of getting Cooper Flagg next year in the lotto. They might not make it look intentional, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit. So, maybe they would actually start Sheppard, so they can get him the needed experience to adjust to the next level. Maybe they think it's worth the risk, and it doesn't matter if they lose while he learns and matures. Maybe they have hopes he breaks that low ceiling many doubters put on him.
Yeah, Chris Paul's offensive game is definitely something he can shoot for. He'd probably need to improve his handles. They are not great right now but I wouldn't call them raw either. Fundamentals are there.
A lot of the Reed Shepherd criticism is race related - anyone that says size etc, and didn't say that same thing about Scoot Henderson last year......well........ We can ignore it exists, but it does, and Shepherd is catching some of it. DD
I don't think they can do much to avoid being terrible unless their guard play magically turns the corner.
Holy sh**! WTF??!! Now I'm a racist?! You guys just can't handle being disagreed with at all! My goodness DD! Way to ruin an argument.
Scoot has a much longer wingspan, and weighs more. I don't know about height, but appears Scoot has some large hands based on how he handles the ball.
