    yes to banning lobbyists.

and what about instead of two years for house members, make it 3 years and a 2 term limit?
senate is 6 years with a 2 term limit.
president stays 4 years with a 2 term limit...or do like mexico and make it one 6 year term.
supreme court is 12 or even 16 years. one-term-and-done. chief justice gets 12 years. so if someone is a SC justice for a decade then gets to be chief, they get another 12. i think that would help put more authority on the position. it might also prevent another situation where bush appoints a justice and immediately makes him chief justice. that seemed ridiculous at the time. the new guy automatically became chief.

Or if they attempt to overturn an election. Which happened in this case.

Dude outs himself as a MAGAt again and again.

Supporting a serial rapist and child molester is not a good look.

Raped her when she was 13 because she reminded Trump of his daughter....WTF are you supporters doing?

I have mixed feelings about this. I think it is embarrassing to see Feinstein and McConnell struggling at the same time the voters knew how old they were and still voted for them.

I also get the feeling most of this board is Gen X and are in their 50’s and 40’s. Many of us might feel differently if we were in our 70’s and 80’s.

See my comment. It's easy to vote for the incumbent. They have a brand, they have name recognition, they are a known quotient. If you wheeled these sick folks out and nobody knew them, there wouldn't be much of a chance of them getting voted in. Hence, term limits=new faces running on their own merits rather than checking a box next to their name.

BTW, straight ticket voting needs to be banned.

Shouldn't deny people from working simply bc of age.

I rather we have a legit competency test if folks are worried about those up their in age.

There should b term limits though

Bans or severe limits on lobbying is the predicate for just about any real change. Effective bans, too.... people caught lobbying illegally must go to prison, and they need to catch more than a token few. It's just that the people that get things from lobbyists are the same people who must shut them down. Maybe a constitutional amendment that went through the states could work. Short of that, we all are mostly yelling at clouds. The collective "we" will get things when they happen to align with the money, we'll pat ourselves on the back and everything else is a vicious fight for crumbs.

Pelosi, Defying Predictions, Says She Will Seek Re-election in 2024
Since she stepped down from leadership last year, many observers expected Representative Nancy Pelosi of California to head toward retirement. But she has kept people guessing about her future.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2023/09/08/us/politics/nancy-pelosi-re-election.html

    excerpt:

Since she stepped down from leadership last year after Democrats lost the House majority, many observers expected that Ms. Pelosi, who at 83 is the seventh-oldest member of the chamber, was headed for retirement. Some had been surprised to see her stay in Congress at all, a rare move for a former speaker, and speculated that she would not finish her term.

Why in the hell do states do blatantly Unconstitutional things? I'm not saying I disagree with them, but this is just going to cost tax dollars when challenged.

    https://supreme.justia.com/cases/fe...strictions,those provided by the Constitution.

I would hope that Pelosi wouldn't run but if the people of her district vote her back in that is on her and them.
