I don’t see the draft pick affecting him either. Just the money and the role which is 10 or 11 man on this current team. I’ll leave the silly Clingan jibe alone.
The below is the headline from a June 8th USA Today article by Ben Dubose who I trust with his Rocket info: Free agent Aaron Holiday reportedly expected to move on from Rockets
He saved the the season for Jalen. If he doesn’t step up early In the season season , they might’ve had no choice but to trade Jale. But Aaron bought Jalen some time to get himself right
I'm not overly surprised. He's probably asking for more than they want to pay him. He's a solid bench player and should be able to earn 5-7 mil per year.
….Amen? Not upset that Holiday would theoretically move on. Felt like his influence on offense was pretty bad, even with the range shooting %. His defense felt overhyped too. Like he’s a true 3rd stringer that got called on too much. Not his fault. Also felt like he didn’t jive with the squad too much.
Call me crazy, but I’d be just fine with Amen and his all-world defense, tremendous size and terrible range shooting taking all of the minutes Fred can’t play. I’d rather Amen work on handles to go with his current traits, he’d be dominant. Aaron Holiday has zero qualities in that vain, up to and including an efficient range. I think one thing that’s become clearer to me the older I get, the more I view and learn is volume provides quite the context to percentage. As well, a high 3% shooter can be an absolute negative on the court. We’ve seen them in bunches- Holiday, Mathews, McLemore, Armoni Brooks, and so on. You could easily hand off shots to other players on this roster. Cam, Tari, Jabari need them and I’m just fine with a bunch of guys hitting around 36% if they can also contribute to defense and rebounding too. Holiday got replaced by a healthy roster.
I wasn't opposed to him leaving in my post, and you proved my point. He only started getting significant minutes because Amen got hurt early on. Rockets aren't going to give a 3rd string point guard a pay raise, so what makes people think they're going to draft a point guard and pay him $10 - $14 million a year? It's not a wise business decision unless FVV is getting traded. Trade back or out of the draft. I agree it's possible Brogdon or Caruso could join, but there's a 90% chance a valuable replacement will be signed for the minimum. Yall will know who I'm talking about if it happens.
This is nonsense, if you have supposed insider info then share it. Otherwise it's just bullshit conjecture where you say something vague that could apply to a wide range of situations and then claim insider knowledge afterwards. It's similar to how fake psychics convince people they have powers by using sweeping generalisations. Nobody's buying that **** with half a brain.
Reality is he’s gone. Never too early to think about his replacement and if it’s a move which makes a Sheppard pick more likely because we have no good shooting point guard backup once he officially leaves. I love Amen and believe he can succeed eventually at point guard, but he’s still a work in progress with his 14% three pointers.
Man Amen ain’t no guard in this league.. I’m sorry to burst yall bubble but he’s a point forward at best. He can’t shoot and he has underwhelming handles. Hes carved out a nice role for himself in the dunker spot. We jsut got over the kpj experiment. As much I dislike that time, I feel more confident with KPJ of all people running the offense over Amen. Amen ain’t a pg. I wouldn’t even feel comfortable calling him a combo guard at this point of his career. I saw more actually point guard skill display from scoot Henderson this season than Amen. Amen cant run a half court offense. This is factual if you watch Rockets games. That’s doesn’t make him a bad player. He was a very good rookie ina specific role and that role wasnt pg.
I mentioned late in the season it would be great to have both Holiday and Bullock back. They are exactly the kind of non-rotation players that a young team like the Rockets need. Bullock could happen, but I'm sure Holiday has greater aspirations for his career.
....DJ Augustin? KPJ is like Amen on opposite day. Pretty obvious his injury had a little something to do with the way his season played out. Idk about all those big statements you got, I think Amen is just fine if he can stay healthy through preseason.
The rockets do pretty good signing these vet min wings. Remember sterling Brown? I wouldn’t mind them being back Khyri Thomas. He showed some potential in 2021 with us
