The problem is New Orleans is in NO need of Brooks and Tate if they have Herb Jones, Trey Murphy and other long defenders.

It has to make sense for the opponent as well, that is how trade negotiations work.....

Sengun and Zion pairing will instantly destroy our spacing it’s the same argument for people saying not to draft Clingan

I mean in terms of players going out, they could be re-routed obvi.

And you’re being a tad condescending when it’s not necessary, friendo…

I stick by my point that if it costs the Rox Brooks, Landale, & Tate (plus picks) to acquire Zion (or BI) that’s a deal you have to strongly consider - if not consummate.

Edit: I would also be amenable to re-routing Zion or BI to acquire Himmie. Been on record about Himmie.

I'll stick with the kids over a questionable effort/regularly unavailable Zion.

Sengun and Zion would also destroy our competition!

They have very similar offensive strengths (rim pressure, playmaking) and overall weaknesses (rim protection, outside shooting). Both had similar production last season. I see them as highly redundant.

Difference is Sengun has been healthier, is younger, and is on an upwards trend, whereas the reverse is true for Zion in all three of those areas.

Why cant people just be happy to have our own draft talent grow together?

Trust me it's far more rewarding if they are successful (being a competitive playoff team) than having temporary mercenaries for a couple of seasons

Sustained great teams that have 5+ years of consistency making deep playoff runs almost always are built through the draft and keeping the talent together and letting them grow together.

The people on this board are 100% right. Zion is an overweight, lazy #%^ who lacks the discipline and desire to be the superstar he was gifted to be. His skills are off the chart, but he doesn’t love the game enough to become an all-time great. He could be the Charles Barkley of our times, but needs some changes. This is why you trade for him now before he figures it out. Buy low on this kid and with Udoka and a great staff, he may grow up and become something that none of the others on this team are capable of….being a true superstar. Huge risk/reward on this guy, but hiw do you think Fertitta made his billions???

I would be more worried about things that are out of Zion's control. He is a blown knee away from ending his career. He's just severely injury prone.

Despite the thread title, don't think Zion is available.

They have two guys: Zion and Ingram. The question has been fit and they're looking to keep just one. It's pretty clear who Pels chose.

If they wanted Ingram, they would have extended him already. Not paying Ingram allows them to pay other guys like Trey Murphy III, who's due for a pay day. And maybe enough left over to upgrade elsewhere.

No teams win championships with strictly homegrown talent. Look at Boston and Dallas as an example. I don't get why fans fall in love with homegrown players. The Rockets need a guy that can get them buckets late in games. They also need guys that can shoot the ball, if they have to trade for these types of players then so be it

Homegrown stars are where your foundation is usually built.

Win with homegrown star(s), surround said star(s) with necessary help.

Thanks for the work. Pretty eye-opening.

The big exception to the hometown players "rule" looks to be the 2004 Pistons and the 2020 Lakers.

And in an alternate reality in which Chris Paul stays healthy, the 2018 Houston Rockets.:D

Signed or traded for Harden, Paul, Ariza, Tucker, Gordon, Mbah a Moute, Ryan Anderson, Nene, Gerald Green, Joe Johnson
    Drafted Capela

There's plenty of things to debate about Zion, but efficiency isn't one of them. His career ts% is over 63% and never been below 61%. Not sure how you can get inefficient out of that.

    Zion, No!
    Mitchell, acceptable.
    Book, Yes!

    Not trading Sengun, though

I think the reference may have been to his lack of 3 pointers... but Zion can get a bucket (if he is playing)
