Issue is that I think the Hawks and Wizards also have access to this information.

Seeing all sorts of numbers, none which come close to 51%
    29%?
    31%?
    38%?

    https://www.si.com/nba/magic/draft-...ntucky-guard-reed-sheppard-pure-shooter-trade
“In high school, Sheppard shot 29 percent from three-point range.”

    https://247sports.com/Player/Reed-Sheppard-46102800/
“He converted only 29% of his three-point attempts as a result and while he’s a better shooter than that number indicates, his three-point range is going to be an even bigger emphasis at the next level and so being a driller is crucial.”

Take those^^ with a grain of salt (Lists 2915 points when he scored more)

Probably not, but he should be an early contributor.

I know, it’s wild that people don’t understand. We’re not saying he’s the next MJ, we just want some shooting. It’ll make everyone better

There is a good chance he will be better than the Jalen Green we saw for about 75% of last season. I doubt he is good as Jalen during his streak, at least not as a rookie. The question there is which Jalen Green do we get for most of the season which happens to be his contract season? If we get bad Jalen for an extended stretch starting the season I could easily see someone like Sheppard getting a lot of his minutes along with Cam.

Sheppard will more than likely not be as good at even the worst part of Green's season. He isn't going to be asked to do what Green does.

Sheppard won’t be better than Green, but he will be better for Green.

Sure. If his shooting translates to the NBA, spacing for slashers like Green always help.

There’s no if, it will translate. He’s not gonna forget how to shoot. Green with spacing is deadly

Hey if he can be in the 76th percentile in team on/off offensive efficiency on 28% usage rate that leads the team on a 40+ win team as a 19-20 year old rookie, that would be awesome as we found a new franchise player. I sometimes hope I win the lottery also sometimes.

No he would not be asked to do what Green does but he would not need to do that since he can actually shoot the ball consistently. Whether you want to admit it or not, Jalen played like pure **** for most of last season so Jalen was not doing what he was asked to do except for his streak. Lets just hope Jalen starts off playing consistently well. If he does, as it was stated a few post ago, a shooter like Sheppard should actually help Green with spacing.

The game isn't as simple as shooting efficiency.

He was disappointing scoring efficiency wise but when you lead a team in usage rate and you are in the top quarter percentile in the league in on/off team offensive efficiency that isn't a fluke due to how involved you are in the offense when you are on the court given that usage rate.

So he did parts of his job with his ability to collapse defenses and generate things like hockey assists and just more good opportunities due to his ability to break down defenses. There are only two players on the team that can collapse defenses purely off self creation with the ball and that's Sengun and Green.

Hence why even if Sheppard has a decent shooting percentage his impact wouldn't be the same.

I don't disagree that he will help Green, Sengun and Amen. If his shooting translates of course he will help those guys.

    Kerr helped Jordan.

Horry, Kenny Smith, Sam Cassell, Mario Elie helped Hakeem.

Sheppard will help open things up for Alpi and Amen and Cam and Bari and Tari and Jalen (if still here).

I can imagine an offense in the next few years Alpi and Amen moving the ball with Reed and Bari nailing the long balls and Jalen getting open lanes (or semi open lanes) to the basket. I believe that would be hard to stop. The defenses would have to pick their poison with either Alpi and Amen scoring at will down low, Jalen driving to the basket, or the sharp shooters nailing 3's.

You just want some shooting?? That's NOT what Im reading! I read post where he would be the BEST shooter on the team DAY 1, I read that he's better than Jalen Green right now, I could go on and on but you get the picture.

A player who shot 50% from 3pt 1yr, who couldn't start on his college team, no matter who the coach was.....yet he's going to come to a NBA team and take over Day 1?
