I think it’s vital that he stays out of his own head. He’s his own worst enemy. This is exactly where Maldy was extremely valuable. He wouldn’t allow Framber to implode or do it his way.

Last postseason Abreu had 13 rbis and 4 homers in 48 AB. That was second best behind Yordan

He is half that production right now in 2x ABs

if your keeping track, Abreu had more postseason rbis than dubon/chas/pena/tucker/brantley combined

or the same as Bregman and Altuve combined

Fun Fact: his OPS since coming off his sabbatical is not good (.622), but it's better than Altuve's, Bregman's, Jake's, Chas's, Pena's, Singleton's, and Tucker's over the same span

You know, when you look at the standings, the Astros are so in striking distance of Seattle and Texas. Especially compared to teams in other AL divisions who are already done for the season. If the Astros could "get it together" and start playing like last night, they could clearly win the division. We aren't playing, coaching, or paying the bills. It is up to them.

It really is monumentally stupid. The league should have a scheduling rule that no game can begin later than 8 pm in either team’s time zone.

4 of 15 games are not afternoon games today...Angels scheduled the only one that starts at 7pm local time (Padres are an hour earlier)

That's mostly true but Bregman's is nearly twice that.

And you are talking 11 games. Less than 7% of a season.

If Abreu keeps the .622 up he will still be among the worst hitting 1B in MLB.

You're right, I mis-****ed something when looked at Bregman. And I'm talking about the only stretch of games he's played since coming back.

The point is: Jose Abreu is not hurting the Stros offense any more than a bunch of other guys right now. I never said anything good about his performance. Yordan, Bregman and Diaz are hot, it'd be nice if a few more guys could put it together at the same time.

And the inexplicable meltdowns that he can't seem to limit or minimize. That's really the big bugaboo.

Yes and No. His .752 OPS looks pretty good for June except 2 solo shots that didn't affect the outcome of either game are the main reasons.
Now, I will give you that some other guys have been just as bad lately. The whole outfield without Tucker for instance. But I would make the point that of all the guys doing terrible lately, Jose Abreu is the least likely to turn it around and start helping us.

Close games have been our demise --- 5-13 in one-runners and ~8-20 in 2 runs or less.

The recent SEA series was complete bs. Stros should have won the series 3-1 -- a split would have been minimum. That's 4 extra games further back in the standings and 4 games further below .500. Pressly's underlying numbers are better than his actual results but he still seems to be mentality f***ed after being demoted. If he's that screwed up, he should refund Crane some money.

This season has been so quirky with injuries, luck, and underperformance. It won't last all year. The Dynasty will win 90+ games.

Jose Abreu hitting that lucky HR is a curse in disguise. It doesn't have me fooled one bit.

vs Mariners 13-6, that's the difference in the division, I can't believe you haven't mentioned that we're only 1.5 back in the Pythagorean Standings

Not expecting anything really, but his 2 HRs were not luck. He stayed back on balls outside and drove them to RCF. That's a very good sign for anybody's swing.

Agreed; I'd almost be more concerned if he was just yanking everything to left. Waiting back usually bodes we'll with getting hitters to stay on and through the ball. Bagwell, Altuve, and Bregman usually go on extended tears when they start taking (and driving) pitches to right.

You definitely did not watch Framber last year, caught exclusively by Maldanado

Where was Maldy when he gave up 6 earned and couldn't get out of the 4th at Arlington? (behind the plate)
In fact, last year with Maldy he gave up 15 earned over 14 innings leading up to a NO HITTER, followed up by 16 Earned the next 3 outings

Followed by 7 no hit innings

Where was Maldy when we were fighting for the division late September and Framber gave up 10 earned over 9 innings in his final two starts? Including 8 walks. I can tell you where he was, behind the plate.

Framber has given us some great outings, and some great one in huge situations

But the thought that Maldy was valuable because he kept Maldy "out of his own head" is hilarious. As if this is something that began this year because the golden Maldy is gone lolololo Fn l
