Given previous legal history I don’t really see how this doesn’t get overturned. Speculation on my part but my guess is that this gets slow walked through the courts and in the lame duck period a border security bill along the lines of the one that has been at k in Congress gets passed.

I'm the son of a legal immigrant who worked his way from poverty in the slums of Hong Kong to earn a full scholarship to study physics at Rice University. I don't fear or resent those coming over here now. I believe the vast vast majority of them are people like my dad, Ted's dad, some posters here's parents, who want better opportunities for themselves and their children. I think we need a more orderly way of doing things though and more resources to be able to integrate these people into our society. Also unlike Ted Cruz when things got tough in my adopted city of Minneapolis I didn't flee to Cancun but stayed and protected my neighborhood and helped clean up. When Ted and our hometown of Houston was underwater from Harvey I didn't just pontificate and blame political opponents but cancelled a vacation and instead did a fund drive and supply run to help. Finally every Astros playoff and world series game I've attended in person the Stros won!
I have a friend who is an immigration lawyer and she was recently talking about this. A lot of people have the impression that if you just marry someone its an easy path to permanent residency. It's not. Also the process of verifying that the marriage is real is very intrusive.
