Well I feel like pouring some scotch at high noon.

When easy money flows around the world looking for +4% gains, shitty things like housing bubbles and CoL increases start distorting "Main Street". We learned post-lehman that credit/debt is tantamount to money.

Main Street payed for that in their sleepiness and they're paying for it again for things outside of their means.

I can't blame them for rethinking their place in the world and wanting to Take it Back through moblike populism.

They're still painfully dull over how asymmetric information can be exploited and used to make them fight themselves.

I guess the MAGA types here in America are aware of the 4D chess plays, and don't ****ing care as long as they feel like they're winning.

I am not saying that all South Asians are smarter than average or hard workers. But the highly educated who emigrate from India to western countries are exceptional. But this true for any population. It’s not simply from being Indian that makes it true. And most often the offspring revert to the mean after a generation or two. It doesn’t last.

2 percent is unspecified (Chinese/Tibetan/Malay/Thai/Pakistani/Sri Lankan, Maldivians).

One of my friends is Sikh. At least that is what he was born into, but he is an atheist and doesn't practice. He does wear the bracelet though. His family is from Northern India. His grandfather fought for Brittain in World War II. He met an American general during the war, who helped him get US citizenship. His father was born in the USA, and his mama was born in Northern India in an arranged marriage. Their sons (including my friend) have little vestiges of Indian culture, but that is it.

My other friend is Hindu and if you ask him, he will tell you he is still is Hindi but that it is because that is what he grew up in, He moved to America at 12 years old. He and his wife have raised their kids free of religion. He will sometimes tell me a story about his childhood or he will get an urge for Indian food and we will find a place to eat out. His son is my sons best friend, and my friend openly says my kid knows more about Indian culture than his kid does - who only wants to play sports and sleep.

I have know Muslim Indians, but I am not really good friends with any. I get along really well with an attorney in Austin I went to high school with who was born an Indian Muslim, but he converted to Catholicism and now is agnostic.

Yeah there are major cultural differences and languages as well - some obscure - and there are major religious differences as well ---- but they all have a shared culture as well. It is a big part of the politics in India right now as well.

It's obviously fear of the OCP. ;)

Not that long ago Canada was worried about all of the Chinese people, especially people from Hong Kong, taking over Vancouver. So now it's Indians in Toronto.

Maybe it will be Mexicans in Montreal next.

My youngest believes in Jesus and the oldest believes in Rama. I tell them there is no afterlife or reincarnation but do they listen. Nope.

Canada gov acknowledging and (seemingly) attempting to fix the over-immigration issue, albeit about 5 years late
