It makes a big difference. Just imagine how it would look with a healty Tucker and if Abreu hit like he was supposed to. There is some truth to the Astros needing another consistent good hitter in the line up from the left side.
I especially like it tonight, Jake has ripped 4 seam fastballs all year and that's this guys main pitch (over 60%). He has also hit sliders well where that's been Pena's cryptonite. If Pena can be patient and lay off the slider, see if he can throw it for strikes, he can rip this kids 4 seamer too I'm calling HR's from Jake, Yainer, Altuve tonight Astros 11 Cardinals 1
Take some pitches and get some walks tonight. Pallante should be all over the place. It's gonna be some kind of pitching exhibition out there.
it’s upsetting that we haven’t gotten singleton more playing time the guy has great discipline. I think he can be better than he has shown , which is already way better than Abreu
Jon has a huge discrepancy when playing regularly and platooning/ sitting on the bench. He's no All-star but when playing everyday, a 100 OPS+/wRC+ guy who hits lefty and is a power threat fits nicely among the Meyers, Diaz, and Chas' on this team. That said, unless he can start 6-7 of 10 games he Kay not be worth a roster spot. Then again who is a better option who would not be losing development time if sitting over 50% of the time?
You like Blum’s call on this? “Yainer bomb!” What about his home run tagline being “Yainer! Dine’er 69’er!”
Spaghetti’s stuff looks electric tonight…. Even with them barreling some of those up (one of those was a good piece of hitting).
Pena has a 0.620 OPS hitting cleanup this year. Singleton started most of the games in May with an outstanding 0.213 BA and 0.680 OPS. Basically, identical to 2023 Abreu that everyone hated. He walks a lot but that's about all he does well.
people wouldn't complain if Jose Abreu is 2023 version of himself. 2024 version is what we're comparing to right now.
