It became worse when they renamed to Brooklyn, New Jersey was not that bad if I remember correctly.

We should not trade unless it is for sure in our favor. We are a playoff team adding back Eason, adams, and a #3 pick.

“If” we take clingan our defense and rebounding take such a massive leap forward with him, Eason and Adams. I would certainly hate to be an opposing center knowing I had to deal with Sengun, Adams, and Clingan. Talk about no rest for the weary on the other side whether it’s jokic or wantmymomma. It would also create great optionality on matchups. “If” the staff feels we are better off with another player I get it. But 7’2”, 280lbs with his skill set is a rare commodity.

Yeah, probably Brooks, but that's it. You're not getting Sengun or Eason.

Outside of salary dumps of Garuba & Tyty for 2nd round picks along with the Harden trade (which he came up aces), what trades has he made that he didn't fare well? I can't recall any ....

Does history really tell or is this just following some tired narrative?

Tbf I think there's a real possibility Bridges could be traded in a deal involving Houston. It just wouldn't be with Bridges ending up in Houston.

Other teams have much stronger motivation to acquire Bridges given their situation (for example, Cleveland).

In order for Brooklyn to extract maximum value from those teams, Houston would have to be involved so Brooklyn can get the return denominated in their own pick equity. This gives Houston extreme leverage.

A deal on draft night could look like this, for example:

    CLE in:
    Mikal

    SAS in:
    Garland

    BKN in:
    Keldon Johnson
    2024 #8 (from SAS)
    2025 BKN swap
    2026 BKN FRP
    2027 BKN swap

    HOU in:
2025 CHI FRP top 10 protected (from SAS)
    2027 ATL FRP (from SAS)
    2028 PHX swap (from BKN)
    2029 DAL FRP (from BKN)
    2031 CLE FRP

Obviously 4 team trades are rare, and this particular arrangement is unlikely. Draft compensation would depend on the desperation of CLE and BKN -- I could see us squeezing them for even more tbh. Could've thrown in the PHI 2027 protected FRP from BKN. But overall these elements make muuuch more sense than Bridges to HOU, IMO.

Well thought out CH BUT I still don’t do that. I value our 3 consecutive unprotected picks from a team that is sure to crater. Especially w the strength of these next few drafts.

Ill do #3 and Brooks for Bridges.

The point is that Stone doesn’t want those picks this close to all of the previous ones. He wants more time to evaluate our current players. He doesn’t see that star player on the trade horizon so he wants to push our draft capital back. As @carl_herrera said, this isn’t really that much about Bridges as it is about the Phoenix picks (or any others further down the road than the Nets’).

Ehh, I think I personally might not do it from a pure "maximize the odds of winning a title" perspective.

But I think Stone would do something like this because it locks in a huge win for him as a GM. If he kept the #3 pick this year while rolling over 2 swaps + 1 pick into 4 picks + 1 swap? He'd win the press conference for sure.

And it would make the Harden trade look even better out into the 2030s.

Even if Brooklyn bottoms out and ends up with high lottery picks for themselves... fans would just say "Well, they wouldn't have bottomed out if the Rockets still had the picks", so Stone wouldn't be blamed.

No coach cal didn’t even scout Oakland and didn’t run shooters in the corners until it was too late. He also promised Edwards and Dj Wagner a starting spot and that’s the only reason Dilly and Reed didn’t start

The Nets with Bridges has proved a bad team. But I am not sure the Nets with 3rd pick. Perhaps they would draft a real star player with good luck.

Are you suggesting the Garuba and TyTy trades were bad?
Those trades made it feasible for us to add all of Brooks, Green and Landale. Without them we didn't have the cap space (we used those guys to effectively do a trade instead of a signing).
Not bad for 2 guys who aren't NBA calibre players.

Possibly he has made bad moves too? If you want to see all the moves he has made, check here: https://www.salaryswish.com/trades/staff/rafael-stone
