Getting in their brownie points for future pardons if they rape or assault women, sleep with underage girls, get caught with hard drugs, or cap a guy in the head for the hell of it, they hope Trump will come to their rescue.

I’ll say it again that this country needs a conservative movement. We need to have a vibrant debate in the size of government, the amount of spending, federalism, and individual liberties. That debate need to be done with respect for the constitution and rule of law.

Instead we’ve seen the Republican Party get taken over by crazies and con artists with many too craven to oppose them or willing to go along. The message of the Republican Party for decades has become far less
about principles but about grievance and fear. About pushing cultural wedge issues for political and financial benefits. That’s made it and supporters uniquely vulnerable to grifters just as we see fear of Hell and moral outrage makes many vulnerable to religious grifters.

What’s more disappointing is so many who claim to stand on principles and prize liberty downplay or just go along with it because they get tax cuts and judgeships. Many make arguments like “well Trump didn’t actually become a dictator” while ignoring that he didn’t succeed because there were people in his own administration that resisted but people who are not going to be there in a second term.

The Franklin quote “a republic if you can keep
It” is that it our Consitutional system isn’t a perpetual motion machine that maintains itself. It requires people to respect and follow those principles. To just expect that the system will just in its own constrain any president ignores that to a large extent we got lucky that there have been people to constrain the president and might not next time.

don't think Cowherd was a MAGA supporter, per se,

he was impressed w how Trump was able to reach / connect with the "deplorables" that Hillary had openly dismissed

Not news that the one senatorial candidate that can possibly turn the U.S. Senate to republicans isn't going to the republican national convention?
