I dont understand why the Stros brass cant seem to be able to have these tough decisions. There's definitely a lack of leadership within the org and it seems as though those that make the most money are going to play, rather than the best players playing.

Seems like front office is very conflict averse and don't want to deal with the tough conversations... during the Luhnow cutthroat era... anyone performing wat Cosart levels would be shipped off

They need to get back to this way of operating.

Yeah, and in the end he paid for it. It's clear many around baseball loathed him and his McKinsey mindset, and the second they saw a chance he was blackballed. If you are gonna be brutally pragmatic, emotions and connections be damned, you better not leave any openings to be taken down.

The sign stealing scandal never gets out if the org had better intrapersonal relations with players, front offices and media. And even if it had gotten out he gets another job in a heartbeat after the suspension. On top of that Jim Crane has become a paranoid buttinski.

They need to get back to being brutally pragmatic IMHO. MLB doesn't like innovative/brutally pragmatic although it wins, which is why MLB doesn't like brutlly pragmatic. Others would have to become brutally pragmatic to beat the Stros. Cant have that. BTW, did you see where Luhnow's soccer team just won a championship?

    No, and I don't really give a s**t.

If he were as amazing at all facets of his job as you guys think, he would still be here hoisting banners, but he isn't. He stupidly left himself a clear opening to be taken down and he was. If you are gonna ignore an important aspect of the job that happens.

    So anyway, uh...

3-5 with a couple of RBI singles and a third run driven in via groundout, not a bad debut for Dezenzo.

Engel Daniel Peralta allowed a hit and struck out five in three scoreless as the FCL team won 9-3 in the first game of a doubleheader.

    You must not like winners

Difference is I dont care about the other part of the job.

I'm just glad his soccer team is winning. This just in, to win championships you've gotta be brutally pragmatic and right now the Stros are missing this and it's taken a 100 win team to a high 80's low 90's type team. Surely you can see this.

Also I'm glad Luhnow didn't listen to the outside noise. This is what allowed him to build a dynasty. It's like some dont appreciate the work he did in building a dynasty. Winners win and Luhnow is definitely a winner. It's almost like some of you dont like winners.

C Jancel Villarroel hit a HR in the 2nd game of today’s FCL double header. FCL stats are meaningless but still good to see guys carry over production from the DSL, especially when they play up the middle.

On the other end of the spectrum, there is being overly sentimental. Drayton became overly sentimenta/emotional with the following:
    1. Baylor alum (Jason Jennings, 6 draft picks that never played for the Astros)
    2. Prioritizing old players reach milestones over wins (Biggio for 3000 hits, Tejada for getting 2 years old in one week, etc.)
    3. Being oversensitive to criticism (Hunsicker and Wagner)

Hernandez was the Astros' 8th-round pick out of UH in 2016. I thought the name sounded familiar...

Hernandez has all his options too.

Would you have preferred biggio move on to another team to get his 3000 hits?

Yeah man I agree with you. Not a huge Drayton fan. I'm not gonna fault him for letting Biggio get his 3000 hit here.
I know Nolan was more productive at the the end. People still complain about letting him finish and get those records with South Oklahoma. Sure would have sucked to see Biggio get that milestone somewhere else.

A couple of strong debuts on the mound in the DSL today:

Javier Perez allowed two hits and struck out seven over four scoreless for the Blue team. Perez is a righty from Mexico making his professional debut this season.

Pedro Marquez also threw four scoreless for the Orange team, allowing two hits and striking out five. Marquez a 22-year-old from Venezuela and in his third season in the DSL, so he's not really much of a prospect.

Brice Matthews is currently 4-4 with two homers (solo and 2-run), two walks, and a stolen base for Asheville.

Matthews now has four home runs on the season.

John Garcia had FIVE DOUBLES in that game. 20 total bases between Matthews and Garcia. Wow.
