people with covid should have been quarantined, not put in nursing homes. you may be too young to know this, but the elderly, by definition, have weakened immune systems.
I may be misremembering, but didn't @NewRoxFan have quite a serious bout with Covid himself? I actually remember being a bit concerned because he stopped posting for a while. In a weird way, even though we argue, we are members of the same community here.
dunno, I'm not even sure what we're arguing about here, other than his pathological (pun intended) need to protect the narrative.
The CDC recommended masking, not Fauci. He may have went along with it, but it was the CDC, just like the 6ft guideline.
I'm 66 so not sure that means I'm too young. But again, not sure how or where you'd quarantine elderly people in nursing homes. And again, this came during the early part of the pandemic so hard to blame anyone at this stage.
The reality is the 'science' is pretty micky mouse but the left believes everyone is too stupid to understand so they screamed "Trust the science". Authoritarians love to believe they know better than everyone else. Haw hard is it to understand that a mask, especially for children, is completely useless unless the person is hacking up bodily fluids. The same with social distancing. Stay away from people who are coughing or sneezing.
BTW, the same people who believed that all these ridiculous, arbitrary, authoritarian rules ever made any sense are the same people who think that there are more than two genders and that biological men should be allowed to ruin women's sports and invade women's changing rooms and that children should get transgendered. They will go along with whatever they are told to believe. Today's leftists are the perfect vassals. They would have been eager executioners in many totalitarian systems in history.
Folks get triggered at the quarantine, masking and covid policies. What would u have suggest folks do? Live life normally in the midst of a pandemic? How long do u quarantine? How far are u suppose to stay away from folks? What can you do to protect the disease from spreading? Only btch about the rules when it hinders or isn't something that they agree with. Can't take these folks who are critical about fauci and questions his Creditentals seriously. Same folks who believe that covid is as harmless as the common cold
Sweden. What they did was the consensus public health playbook. But Fauci and some co-conspirators like Drosten in Germany steered the world towards the totalitarian Chinese approach.
You're missing the point. March/April 2020 was peak absurdity and granted the situation, we get it. Panic in the street. By June, there was a massive push back. We knew children we a very low risk and elders were the highest risk. But yet the authoritarians pushed this on for years. People are still wearing masks to this day due to the stupidity. We also spent trillions to bailout the global shutdown which puts future generations into massive debt. "Opps, I'm stupid" just doesn't cut it
This article takes a fair look at the mixed results. It factors in death amongst senior citizens in Sweden and other nations. It also discusses the high initial mortality rate vs. 2021-2022 and gives some possible rationale for that including their extremely high initial rate. It also talks about the differences in how countries report the rates. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10399217/ It is a really evenhanded look.
Yes. They had a lower excess death rate than most countries which subjected their population to arbitrary, authoritarian, non-sensical lockdown and masking (including toddler masking) measures, not to mention vaccine mandates, etc.
Ahh, the Telegraph: The Daily Telegraph supported Liz Truss in the July–September 2022 Conservative Party leadership election
This was brought up many times but swedens results weren’t as good as many other Scandinavian countries with similar demographics and social makeup.
The logical mistake you keep making is that you ONLY look at Covid mortality. Even there, Sweden did A LOT better than most of the places in the US and elsewhere with their insane restrictions. But when you look at it holistically - all causes excess death, suicide rates, mental health, youth mental health, social cohesion, economy (which has an impact on health also), etc. - Sweden did excellent. The other Scandinavian countries also had much looser restrictions than some of the insane places like San Francisco and New York, they were much closer to Sweden's policies.
