Could very well be the end of his career. He will be non-tendered this offseason and was never really good enough to warrant another team signing him to a big league deal to rehab. He will have to wait until 2026 to sign a minor league deal to work his way back to the majors, at which point he’ll be 31, having never put up more than 1.8 fwar in a season and not throwing harder than 94. Long odds.

    Not unexpected, but definitely unfortunate.

Was always a gamer.... our modern day Cy Backe in the postseason.

Astros are also out for the season, though it hasn’t been announced yet. [IMG]

No, not because they lost Urquidy.

I disagree, people are starved for pitching.

He'll certainly be non tendered this offseason, but somebody will take a chance, maybe even us, on a smaller 2/3 year deal assuming he misses all of next season. Won't be much, but I'll be shocked if some team doesn't take the buy low approach on Urquidy to try and steal some cheap productivity in 26/27. You don't have to do much to justify a small MLB contract.

Tommy John surgery hasn't shown to have significant negative ramifications anymore, they usually even come back better.

    This was predicted last week.

Urquidy is basically Brandon Backe -- a little success in the regular season but huge in the playoffs.

Both should be respected for their contributions in helping the franchise win.

Good luck to Jose for his remaining career -- unless he's playing against the Astros, of course.

Did the wire break from his last surgery? The last surgeon should be sued.

    Of course he is.

Well. At least we have Lance McCullers! And if that doesn't work out there's always Forest Whitley I guess...

Sadly, the list will grow. I blame the pitch clock.

Not really a difference maker, but the staff will miss that mediocrity. Bottom line. We need a dominant ace to emerge.

Urquidy in 2019 Game 4 World Series against the Nationals was awesome and I was there in enemy territory.

Hope he gets another crack again somewhere

A few more seconds between pitches wouldn't be saving UCL's

If ya wanna blame the pitch clock for some pitchers poor performances I could buy that

    As for UCL's

Emphasis on spin rate, pitchers need more torque on their joints/ligaments to create that spin

Add in the MLB crack down on sticky stuff to help pitchers create that spin

This is what we are left with
