I don't even resent them for having their opinion. What I resent is the absolutism and blind authoritarianism with which they excluded people from society and happily suppressed dissenting opinions with force.
My bad. I responded to Commodore ... and you responded to me. I should have double checked, since Commodore just **** posts and rarely engages thereafter.
Gaining a better understanding into the lead up and reaction to Covid would be a valuable study. Unfortunately, not the approach that the maga republicans are choosing to pursue, who instead instead to make this a circus.
repugnant to accuse Dr. Fauci for torturing dogs, and then cites a British tabloid paper of more disinformation. Clearly she has not interest in learning about what led up to and how the pandemic was handled and instead, only hopes to attack the Dr. Of course, the end result of this is that no one will ever take any of these types of roles when members of the "other" political side will target them in congressional hearings.
From the bits and pieces I've been able to watch, this hearing seems to be a huge dose of backfire to the MAGA GOP party.
one reason Trump represents an existential threat is how much information about these three letter agencies he could reveal once he has nothing to lose
This is like @Commodore saying ... water is wet ... who knew? ... the liberal elitists are out to get us ... only Trump can save us from the liberal elitist water!!! In the words of the ex-FLOTUS, Be Better.
post covid and we still have folks btching about the covid policies. If every state followed florida or texas playbook, so many more folks would have die simply bc folks refuse to quarantine themselves. Don't wear mask, don't vaccinate, don't quarantine, enjoy life as normal and attend parties. How the fk are u suppose to prevent covid from spreading with that sort of playbook. Didn't help that we had folks likening it to a "common cold". It's funny in times of pandemic or an epidemic, u would want your government to take action and provide a plan to prevent more of us from dying. But it seems some folks resent the government for telling us what to do, the stupid my body my choice stance. And then flash forward today u see the same hypocrites support the government in outright banning abortion.
Curious, what would your solution have been? Hospitals were already filling up. People were being moved into parking garages. I think the military started providing beds on hospital ships. All this while folks were still trying to understand what was causing the disease and how to best treat it. I mean, other than suggesting people try bleach, horse tranqs and inserting bright lights into the body?
not putting infectious people in the same facility as those with weakened immune systems. Parking garages would have been preferable. and, IIRC, the USS Mercy was deployed, but never occupied. nor was the Javits center.
So people who have weakened immune systems should be put in parking garages. That would have never been allowed by family members. ANd likely the same family members that resisted any efforts to isolate people and enforce social distancing. And keep in mind, the issues with nursing homes happened at the very start of the pandemic when there was very little known about Covid and how to respond. Hate to take away your happy talking point.
