I like JJJ a lot, but he is not a good 3 pt shooter. Career 34%. I see Jabari as a career 38-40% 3 pt shooter and with a little more muscle he will be a perennial all-defensive candidate. He is only 20 years old. Amen and Sengun are our true core and Jabari is a better match with them. We are already a top 10 defense. We need to keep adding shooters. If Jalen actually becomes a consistent offensive player we will be championship contenders within the next 2 years just from internal growth.
I don't want to give up Jabari. I just don't understand the fascination with the slow moving Clingan.
Rim protection is overrated esp in the playoffs (See Gobert). It's only useful against bad teams without superstars.
Rox themselves have not given any indication they will waste the pick on Clingan to be the 4rth center on the team esp with Landale breaking out.
Personally I'm ok with those two I think they're a match made in heaven. They are too young and raw give them a couple of years they will dominate the NBA imo.
I hope shooting and defense will the biggest focus out of the draft, if they retain the 3rd pick. Otherwise trade it if possible, for perceived upside by the other teams.
Outside of Risacher there's nobody in the draft that will give you those two things. Maybe Johnny Furphy or Devin Carter? But those guys aren't in play at 3.
It's too bad we're not talking about Giannis here. Bane isn't worth more than the 14th pick in this weak draft.
Look like the Reed Fanclub will get their wish (sadly): Sarr -out of reach Risacher - played himself out of reach (wtf) Castle - Possible diva? I don't think a dude with entitlement issues gonna be happy off the bench So now 3 is between Topic and Sheppard. Topic is the better pg but he is like a worse version of Amen Thompson and he seems injury prone. Injuring the same ligament twice is not a good sign esp for a PG who relies on his speed and quickness to do anything. Didn't realize Sheppard is only 19. There's a chance he still grows an inch or two in the NBA. Both of Sheppard's parents were collegiate basketball stars. Jeff Sheppard was 6'3 (likely 6'1 just like Reed) while Stacey Sheppard was a center at a listed height of 6'2. With both of them so close in height there might be a chance Reed isn't done growing yet. Either that or I'm just gaslighting myself at this point lol.
If we take Castle this franchise deserves to finish in the bottom 10 in Offensive Efficiency again next year.
Castle would likely be in the G league trying to learn how to shoot a basketball and throwing a tantrum about the Rockets not giving him the starting PG spot. Sheppard would likely backup FVV and be a quality bench player year one.
