How tf is Amen behind Tari in untouchables? Tari is easily the most tradable out of the core 6 or whatever it is. At least let Jalen go into RFA
I just took exception to be more untradeable than Amen. I get your point on having great role players at affordable prices, but you still protect your young starters over six man types which are definitely expendable to get a star.
I get your point. I was just stating my personal preference. I really like Amen. His shooting still leaves some question marks. I hope he can fix it because then he would have superstar potential. Imagine Amen with Reed Sheppard's shooting. By the way, this triggers a thought in my mind...how much do players actually "learn from each other" when training together? Could having a really great shooter on the team somehow rub off on the others?
I would be fine with letting Jalen go into RFA. I hope he will have a great season (if not traded beforehand), that would be the best outcome either way from a Rockets perspective.
I agree if we are just looking at what we need this year. Fred has to go either at the deadline or after this year, because of cap space issues. If we really want to keep him, the only shot would be to release him at year-end and see if we can re-sign him for multiple years at 25M or so. That is not very realistic. Fred is not worth 40M. We paid that because we had to spend the money and he was willing to structure his contract so that he could be jettisoned when we needed the cap space.
Rockets won 84% of the games in which they had a defensive rating of 110 or better. (26-5) The only players that have defensive ratings near that are the untouchables... Tari (106 last season) Amen (109 last season) Sengun (111 last season) Fred (career 111) Adams (career 107) This is the core. Everyone else is expendable. Surround these guys with shooters and better defenders.
It's an issue that our two best players can't shoot. Amen will be our best player soon enough. Alpi just needs to keep doing what he's doing and try to develop an outside shot. They'll be a better version of Sabonis/Fox. The main question is who is there to fill in the gaps. Amen is probably the most untouchable of the "Core 6". I would entertain a trade of Jalen + Tari + 25 Swap for Mikal Bridges + DFS. Keep the #3 and take Sheppard. Start Amen/FVV/Bridges/Bari/Sengun with Reed/Dillon/Cam/Adams/DFS off the bench.
The only player I would like to see gone is Dillon. He’s an okay player and for the most part he behaved himself this season. But, I think his contract is too long and we have younger players with bigger upsides to take his place. I wouldn’t really be looking to trade Landale because we don’t know how well Adams will play coming off the injury. Landale proved to be an adequate backup center.
I think it goes Sengun, Amen, Jalen, Jabari, Tari, then Cam in that order. Hell, they’re all untouchable for next season imo
I kinda want Fred gone too, but I understand his value. I want a starting 5 of…. C. Sengun PF. Jabari SF. Tari or Amen SG. Jalen PG. Amen or Reed Sheppard
I’m fine with dealing Tate and Landale. We have Adams playing next year. Green is going to want an extension and I don’t blame him. Either he plays closer to how he did towards the end of the season or the Rockets likely deal him because of finances. Honestly - just about anyone on the roster can be traded…,Sengun (for a big star), Smith, Thompson, FVV, Brooks… not hard to lay out ways they could be dealt.
The Rockets should be looking to move Green before the season starts. A lot of folks are going to be disappointed if he gets out of the gate slow, and that trade value drops again. Time is not even remotely on our side anymore with him, and leverage weakens by the day. JG should already be gone.
What a weird response. Nobody trades players they value. I like cam, I’m just saying for the right deal, yes, he’s trade fodder.
Ya’ll been trying to get rid of Tate since he walked in the door He’s an underrated player imo, he is always prepared and can pick up minutes at multiple positions in case of injury or when the team needs a shot of energy. He’s valuable as a 10/11th man for depth.
