I’m sure Abbott, Hawley, and Ken Paxton know this. Mistating facts and the law have never stopped them before.

Assuming you're correct, the DNC could then just have 1 day of a convention and show trump's speech. Likely won't be any need to say anything else.

They shouldn't have had to do anything for the last 9 years except show any random 30-second clip of Trump speaking and then just comment "This is the alternative." Yet here we are.

The Rs are for Law and Order, as long as that means more Ds go to jail.

A one day convention might not be a bad idea.

Thinking more about it yes they will need Biden to give an acceptance speech and at least one as good the SOTU. What they don't need is a lot of speeches going after Trump. If I'm Biden's speechwriter I barely mention Trump but would give a speech focused on issues such as abortion, infrastructure, lowering medical costs, and bringing back manufacturing. Highlight the contrast from what will likely be a backwards looking angry over the top speech from Trump in the RNC.

What's so insidious about the party is that almost all of them know he's a morally bankrupt moron but they go along with the act because the inarticulate, principle-less base they've been cultivating for 20 years demands fealty to him. They're all on record saying as much, but they're able to say the opposite now and stay in Trump's good graces because the voters demand it.

Defending Trump is more important than doing their jobs as US Senators. It's more important than passing legislation to address things like immigration, national security or inflation. It's more important than seeing that judgeships and other offices get filled.

I'm sure this will be a winning issue to take back the Presidency and Senate.

They are also for Law and Order when the offenders are Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Muslims and people from the LGBQT community. If you are straight, Republican, and white as rice they don't.

Yes McConnell in his speech following the vote to convict a Trump in his second impeachment said that a former President could be impeached but should be subject to the criminal justice system. He also said Trump was responsible for Jan. 6. Last month he said he would vote for Trump.

This shows how deeply embedded partisan loyalty is. It’s party over all country.

When the Founders wrote the Separation of Powers into the Constitution they believed that members of the separate branches would want to protect the interests of their own branches. What they didn’t count on was the strength of partisanship and that Senators and Justices might have more loyalty to their party than to the branch of the government.
