Don’t fall for Dave’s “vibes” on Sengun, they’re not the result of “insider” info.

They’re the result of him consistently disliking Sengun since we drafted him, and thus consistently being wrong about Sengun day after day, season after season. And the better Sengun gets, the worse Dave’s takes look, and yet the more he doubles down.

Dave will no longer be remembered as the guy who wanted to draft Harold Minor over Robert Horry. He’ll be remembered as the guy who wanted to start Bruno Fernando over Alpi, to trade Alpi for Mark Williams, and to dump Alpi for some guy named Klingon.

Sengun will be handed the MVP trophy at Toyota Center one year, and Dave won’t be able to enjoy it.

You spelled his name wrong. Let me help you out for future posts: JIMMY FREDETTE.

Other than the fact that he's white, what makes you say that.... or was that your entire basis for analysis?

Fredette is such a dumb, lazy comparison. How did Jimmer shoot from 3 his freshman season? .336. Not to mention Sheppard can jump about ten inches higher than Fredette.

So you’re literally saying @Clutch is lying and fabricating what the Rockets thoughts on Sengun had and/or have been. Nice to know. Are there any other thoughts about Rocket players you are privy to since you seem to be an insider within the organization yourself??

They could be a win-now team. There are only two teams (Boston and LAC) with three players scoring a VORP of 3+. If the Rockets were to trade Jalen and picks for Mitchell, they would have three (including FVV and Sengun). And with Amen scoring a 1.8 in a rookie year with limited playing time, I’d expect him to be pretty close next year.

I believe that team would compete for home court next season, and once you're in the playoffs, the health of your team and your opponent’s can influence a lot of the outcomes.

I don’t think it’s that bold. From a pure physical stand point and skill ability - Zion has the talent to lead a team to the Finals. Do I think he will do it? No - for all the reasons I listed.

As for Mitchell - I think he is very good, but I don’t think he is good enough to be the top player on a team that wins a title.

I was just kidding….of course he’s better than Jimmer (that wouldn’t take much) but two concerns: his dad Jeff Sheppard sucked in the NBA (see Stephen Silas for reference) and he really sucked in the Tournament. He is basically just a sharp shooter who isn’t really a great point guard. Would probably have to play shooting guard and at 6’1” that is too small no matter how high he can jump. Hope is he could be a poor man’s Trey Young, but doesn’t have the shooting or passing ability of Trey. Definitely a lottery pick, but should go around 9 and not top 3.

That isn’t literally what I’m saying, but it’s implied in what I’m saying yeah.

He’s likely mischaracterizing, embellishing, conveniently omitting, and decontextualizing things he’s hearing. And I don’t think he has any new real info since Alpi’s breakout 3rd year, so it’s all recycled Bruno Fernando-era “intel”.

Yeah no sh*t you’re implying it. I am asking if you literally mean he is lying and you now adding some extra platitudes.

Cool though. The founder of this message board is biased against Sengun apparently to the extent where he is being dishonest in regards to how the Rockets organization has evaluated Sengun since he was drafted.

Again Mr insider do you have any other information in regards to the rockets. Or is this the singular subject you are privy to?

I’m not sure why you’re reacting so aggressively to him. What he is saying is hyperbolic, certainly, but not really that outlandish.

Clutch has a noted distaste for Sengun as a player, this is known. It is not unreasonable to think his distaste might color his perception of the information he hears and might prompt him to speculate in a way that is shaded with some anti-Sengun bias.

Yeah I would say he does.

He has been a noted skeptic since we drafted him.

That was the thinking before Ime had a year to coach him. You don’t need to read into tea leaves how they feel, just look at their actions all year long, Ime has played Sengun like he is the number 1 option. We are very obviously not going to trade him unless it’s for a superstar. What Clutch has said recently is the front office’s view on centers like Clingan in general, that they are a commodity, dime a dozen.

Isn't ATW like unhinged? Not sure if they are objective in this.

He is a fan. He runs a fan-site. Think of some of the posters that spend 90% of entire months ******** on Green. Just because he is fan #1 doesn’t mean he should play politics.

Just because you love Sengun doesn’t mean you have to go all diatribe-ey.

Yeah sure, they might be biased. But Clutch has had noted back-and-forths with them on this site about Sengun and Clutch rarely (if ever?) gave props to Sengun on Twitter: no push for Allstar consideration and encouraging Rox fans to vote, don’t recall him mentions when Alpy put 45/16 on Wemby either. But he did make sure to mention when Ime would sit Sengun in the 4th or whatever.

Clutch was a noted proponent of starting Bruno over Sengun. He downplayed him to a certain degree on some of the podcasts, etc.

It’s a notable pattern of behavior. It’s not unhinged hate for Sengun or anything, but it is at least skepticism. And I think that could affect how he reacts to information he may or may not be privy to.

    Alls I’m saying

I think if you have a an extreme bias for Sengun you can believe any level of praise consistency posted on social media meets the threshold of "too little".
