meh.. not really race related. more like alperen still has some baby fat but is better than your average nba athlete. once he gets in his prime and his fitness and body is maxed out, he's gonna be a monster.

It's more of a generalized thing then Alperen Sengun specific. It's just a funny term because no one ever says that a black player has "sneaky athleticism" lol. Been hearing that a lot lately because of all the Reed Sheppard discussion.

You could have put it this way.

    2023-24 Alperen Sengun
    From Turkey
    Has a beard
    Plays center

    2017-18 Enes Kanter
    From Turkey
    Has a beard
    Plays center

    TLDR: Sengun = Kanter

    :D

Should have made myself clearer. I did not mean to compare them, obviously they are completely different players.

Merely trying to use what happened to Kanter in that situation as an example of what is likely to happen to Sengun in playoff games.

How has be fared this season in that situation, when defending the PnR? If I am not mistaken, he was taken out and held out for the rest of the game more than a few times because he messed up defending the PnR?

At least Alpi is consistent on offense, Jalen has not shown consistency on either end. He had one good month this whole year. Not a fan either.

Bro I am not a hater. I did have one account (just one) which i created mid 2000s, but I haven't used it for a very long time, so long that i don't even remember the username and password. Thats why I created this one.

I just dont think he is long term solution at the 5. I would like to see someone who can defend on the perimeter and be a rim protector at that position, on offence - if that someone is a capable finisher and free throw shooter, thats all we would need.

If it makes you feel better, I am not a fan of Jalen either. Inefficiency and Inconsistency.

Personally, I would like to see both of them traded while they have some value, and before we have to pay them.

I think if we draft Clingan that Sengun might be traded......just a feeling I get that they aren't completely sold on building around him.

I would be but for some reason, I think the Rox are hedging.

And they don't want to pay a man the max until they are sure they have a star, and Sengun is looking like maybe a low level star but not a superstar.

So they would want to give up building around a proven talent in order to build around an unknown?

That is the joke, I felt I do not have to lay it out there.

Having someone literally named Beard whose skillset actually overshadows his beard.....that is literally telling.

People with massive beards (in the Middle Eastern culture) and if you put a 16 yr old teenager in their adolescence next to him.

But yep, you can still grow a full beard with beard oil and hair implantations.

If Alpi develops a consistent 3 pointer and middy I think he could move to the 4 spot in the starting lineup, and play 5 in some lineups. But the Centers will have to stretch the floor and offer some rim protection as well. Jabari would be the odd man out in this scenario.

    Please don't say "middy" again.

I think there is a general problem with understanding that draft is typically how you can draft a franchise player or a super star. We drafted Green, Sengun, Cam, Amen, Bari all some sort of potential to be great players. If we missed on them, we missed on them. No one will give you a player that will have a bigger potential.

if you are phoenix and pass on luka, you pay the price.
if you are sacramento and pass on luka you pay the price.
if you are atlanta and pass on luka you pay the price.

you can't get a youngish franchise player back in return for your bad draft. You might get an older star but it doesn't fit the time line anyway and that star will probably have a short usage time and potential problems. Things like the harden trade happens rarely.

Our youngster have great potential. There is absolutely 0 reason to give up on any of them.

Comparing Sengun to Kanter while they are nothing alike in terms of how they play, and only share being from Turkey as their common trait has to be the most xenophobic thing ever - I thought we were over this stuff (this stuff referring to xenophobia, nonsense comparisons that are ill-intentioned, and the Kanter comparison itself which is wild to begin with). What's next - will you claim Sengun cLogS the pAinT?

Kanter is more like the Anti Erdogan, expatriate Turkey guy.....more into politics and I think he suits immigrating to the US if he did not already.

Him being into politics also shows us basketball is not his first choice, which is different from Alpe who loves basketball....plus he is really not that good compared to Sengün.

I do not even consider him a Turkish citizen no more.

Kanter is a total jester who is a member of an opposing religious terrorist group (fetullah) that is no longer friends with Erdogan. Kanter is not into politics. He only do what his master asks him to do. And he loves to take attention. Thats why he talks a lot. Kanter is not on the same page with any other nba player.

I think they are going big, and don't believe Sengun is big enough and unless he has a 3pt shot is more of an old school player who clogs the paint for better opportunity to be star players.

Again, I am simply reading the room - as I see it from the Rox...with incomplete info.....so a guess if you like.

"Going big" is not a building strategy. If it was, they would have played Boban a lot. Using one single parameter to gauge probability of success is one of the dumbest things for any company's decision making. I don't have a lot of confidence in Tilman-Stone's competence. But I can't believe they can be that stupid.

I mean going big as in....looking for a SUPERSTAR to build off of - not PHYSICALLY big.....I should have given more clarity....

I believe the team will trade ANYONE right now to procure that star, Zion, Mitchell whomever they target and that includes Alpi.....and once they get it, will move pieces that don't fit for those that do.

I don't believe that they will stay the course on 6 or 7 young kids and let them develop......and I don't believe they think they have that star on the roster yet....so anyone could go, and IMHO, Sengun is the easiest piece to trade that generates the most value in return...and Ime seems to struggle with his lack of defense and poor 3pt shooting....doesn't really fit what Ime wants to do.....so I think he and Jalen, maybe both will be traded this year.....I think Jalen is 80% likely and Alpi is 50/50....just my thinking.
