My biggest issue is not remembering what I've forgotten followed closely by remembering things, in detail, which didn't happen. But I would like to know if any of you are familiar enough with OL alignment adjustments which might be made specifically for players. I'm thinking specifically in a situation where you have a Guard with a Tackles length or a Tackle with a Guards lateral movement limitations. Is it common or advisable to move out or in toward the guard because of the player's skills and physic?
Exactly what is negotiated under a rookie contract? I thought they were pretty well negotiated under the NFL Players agreement.
Seems like they have a plan to replace Tunsil if Fisher develops well in these next couple years. Looking forward to next preseason game.
Yeah, but Howard is easier to replace than LT. If Fisher can replace LT at LT, then we can trade LT and find a new RT if Howard can't stay healthy. Hopefully, that's as clear as mud.
The three hardest positions to find elite talent are QB, LT, and shutdown CB. Those are positions that generally you have to go to the top of the draft to find the best of the best. For almost all other positions you can find legit talent consistently throughout the draft.
Tunsil isn't going anywhere is Stroud is the QB. Howard on the other hand. Is getting paid too much for production. They will try and move Howard before Tunsil if the rookie develops well.
I sense you're right about LT...but I'd be curious to know where the All-Pro LTs over the past 10? years were drafted
Doing a quick check on pro-football reference (forgive me if some of these guys are actually RTs...they list them as either LT or just T): the LT all-pros the last 10 years were: Trent Williams (SFO) - 1st round, 4th overall in 2010 Laremy Tunsil (HOU) - 1st round, 13th overall in 2016 Andrew Thomas (NYG) - 1st round, 4th overall in 2020 Terron Armstead (MIA) - 3rd round, 75th overall in 2013 Jordan Mailata (PHI) - 7th round, 233rd overall in 2018 Rashawn Slater (LAC) - 1st round, 13th overall in 2021 Kolton Miller (LVR) - 1st round, 15th overall in 2018 David Baktiari (GB) - 4th round, 109th overall in 2013 Garrett Bolles (DEN) - 1st round, 20th overall in 2017 Ronnie Stanley (BAL) - 1st round, 6th overall in 2016 Taylor Lewan (TEN) - 1st round, 11th overall in 2014 Joe Staley (SFO) - 1st round, 28th overall in 2007 Andrew Whitworth (LAR) - 2nd round, 55th overall in 2006 Alejandro Villanueva (PIT) - undrafted in 2010 Tyron Smith (DAL) - 1st round, 9th overall in 2011 Joe Thomas (CLE) - 1st round, 3rd overall in 2007 Donald Penn (OAK) - undrafted in 2006 Jason Peters (PHI) - undrafted in 2004 So 11 of the 18 drafted in the 1st round. Outside of that they were all over, including 3 undrafted guys. I have no idea how this compares to other positions and I'm not going to do the research to find out.
Why would money come between Stroud playing behind elite bookend OT's. Fisher and Tunsil are or will be studs. After year 3 how long elite players can stay around Stroud will be up to how Strouds contract is setup. There's usually a 5-7 year window to win depending on how the contract is written.
He was 1st team all pro in 2013 but I only went back to 2014. Looks like he was 2nd team all pro in 2018 and I just totally missed his name. He was selected 1st round, 26th overall in 2008.
