I have read in certain circles that Maldy is actively sabotaging this team through his friends that are still here.
I think this is Brown saying he isn't dieing on the Abreu hill. If others want to keep playing him, they are going to have to say it. I think Brown is done with him.
The Astros have the 4th best OPS against RHP. The Astros have the 10th best OPS versus LHP. There shoudln't be much need for a bat on the bench against RHP.
I swear if we try to have a modern version of the Kemp-for-Maldy trade to get him back again... I would rather have the corpse of Brian McCann or Evan Gattis out there.
Cool cool That isn’t the history of some of these guys those, and more likely as the at bats pile up they will be more like they always have And it’s not really about team OPS, it’s about situational stuff. Guys like Yordan and Tucker and Altuve are gonna hit anyone, and they ain’t getting situationally hit for anyway. Hopefully Jake is more than a hot streak and is joining them, maybe he is fully healthy for the first time since the injury But if you have Dubon or Chas as your LF, or CF for that matter, and there was a tough RHP coming in that is the type that gives them trouble, your option would be another guy who is better vs LHP than RHP I’ll stop posting my thoughts on this subject though. It’s obvious that most here like the overall makeup of the roster and think Dana has put together a great 26 man team I hope it works out that way, I just view the game differently than most I guess Hopefully we win these last two and get back to 3.5 out, there is a huge difference from that to 7.5 out
Yes, I’m pretty sure this is right. Cause I think Jon started last year with Milwaukee and we got him when he was DFA by the Brew I wouldn’t swear to that, but I think it’s accurate
Einstein never said that. It's a made up quote designed to sell mugs and t-shirts. Still though, the point remains!
Did Abreu make another fielding error at first? Or, have I misread the thread pysche? I sensed some grumblings. I didn't see the game.
If you view a team that has been hitting RHPs situtionally, not situationally, and on average this season a reason behind the Astros being in hole, sure. I'd guess most Astros fans fear RHPs because Chas, Pena, and Meyers as a group will likely be slightly below average. For me, I trust Altuve, Alvarez, Tucker, and even Bregman to be such a force that worrying about a bat late with Chas up to the plate shouldn't matter as much as what those guys do all game long. If the Astros can get pitching, the bats will do their job (not counting Abreu unless soemthing drastically changes).
Wasn't an error, I don't think. He was holding a runner on first . . . josh rojas hits a 90ish mph ball up the line and he couldn't knock it down. Bregman followed that up with a crappy throw a few pitches later - that probably couldn't be dug . . . but Abreu was moving in slow motion. The play down the line . . . was essentially the Trey Mancini play, only he didn't come up with the ball. vs
It was easier last season to deal with losses because I could at least vent on the poor lineup choices. Aside from Abreu I can't even point to anything else sigificant right now that needs changing. All of the hitters and relievers who have sucked have established track records. So even with Abreus corpse this team should be crushing. Pressly is the only one whose decline may be age related, but even his peripherals still look solid. As for the pitching we've been getting consistent winnable starts for weeks now, yet still mediocrity. It's so frustrating, everything seems together for just enough to lose frequently.
