There's legit argument the Astros lost today simply because Abreu was playing defense. This team has so many negatives going against it - whether it be injuries, veterans underperforming, luck, or whatever, but the manager is constantly defying obvious logic and it's killing our chances.
This team isn't going anywhere if they get nothing out of Alvarez, Bregman, Abreu, and Diaz. For all the failings on the mound, those 4 need to get back to their expected production. #BackOfTheBaseballCard
Another loss in a Framber start. Bad defense but he was hit hard in the first inning. That's all the Mariners needed tonight.
What's with this insane loyalty to Jose Abreu? This team has enough dead weight most nights. Jose is cement shoes on top of that.
Jose goes to Sugarland -- Urquidy gets injured Jose goes to the Astros -- Javier gets injured AND the Stros lose immediately directly due to him Lawd have mercy on Houston .
I got a good nights sleep and missed the offensive explosion. I’ll get another good nights sleep tonight. Will they ever make it to .500?
Like any sport. When your team becomes below average to at times plain awful, it becomes hard to watch. Next thing you know you find something else to do with your time.
It was inning 5 instead of inning 4 last night. I tuned out after the 4th inning. Checked on final score after waking fully rested this morning and discovered that Jbreu drove in one of the two runs so we are probably stuck with him for a while. Pena struck out 4 times and the 2 through 5 hitters went 0 for 14. Can't win that way. And Framer settled in after minor implosion in first after Jbreu didn't make play on ground ball that turned into double and led to the 3 runs that in the end was too much to overcome. Other than that you didn't miss much. I am beginning to question whether they will make it to .500 with all the injuries, poor managerial decisions, and in general lack of give a damn on this team.
I did the opposite. Being in Europe I woke up at 5 to watch 6-9 … saw absolutely nothing of interest or enjoyment. Now I’m tired all day. Being a fan sucks sometimes … and yet I’ll do it again tomorrow.
It’s easy to be a fan when things are going well. things haven’t even truly bottomed out here… but a select few of us still know exactly what that entails.
How has Alvarez done nothing lately? In the past 9 games he's had 11 hits, four of which were 2B hits, and a home run. Meanwhile, our cleanup batter Bregman has had 4 hits the past 9 games, and one 2B hit. Altuve is actually way below his average in SLG and OPS this past month. But, he also is one of our better hitters this year, so I'm not too worried about him. Our lineup is a big part of the problem on this team. Bregman needs to go way way down in the lineup. We have much better hitters in spots that don't get enough at bats. For the month of May we have Tucker and Meyers leading our team in SLG and OPS by a longshot. Yet, Bregman has been at bat far more times than either. Even Singleton is batting better both in May and for the year than Bregman. The sad part is that some of our best hitters play the same positions. Dubon and Loperfido are two of our top 5 in either SLG and OPS too, along with Meyers and Alvarez. We have a lot of good hitters. I still have faith. I just think we need to position them differently in the lineup. I'd try mixing it up, tweaking it, and finding better ways to get our base runners into home plate.
