Bridges is not happening. The Nets aren't giving up the Suns picks and the Rockets aren't giving up 3 pieces (picks/players) for him.

The new meta has made trading really really hard to do. Everyone wants to win the trade and the easiest thing to do is just draft BPA and develop because no one is going to fault you for that. Almost everyone who has given up a stockpile of picks for a "star" has had it blow up in their face.

Bridges may be the most overrated player in NBA history. Jalen Green AND multiple first round picks!!! This better be a mistaken identity issue where it was Zion or Mitchell and they confused those guys with this Nets scrub…..

Williamson is too high risk and he doesn't seem motivated for greatness at all.

I am lukewarm to Mitchell. His usage rate is too high for a guy who's not a top tier superstar.

A Bridges trade only makes sense if the Nets value their own picks significantly more than other picks and players. So, a swap of Nets/Suns picks with no other real assets involved.

The idea would be to upgrade the team while still having ammo to go after a star if they become available.

I would be surprised if Bridges gets a max deal, I think the league knows who he is now.

Was just thinking of a trade that makes sense

    3 team

    bridges (and filler) to cavs

    Mitchel to rockets

green / Brooks and some nets picks to nets

Setting aside whether you think a Brooks -> Bridges two year upgrade is worth a high lottery pick (I categorically do not).

The core dynamic that’s getting ignored here is that if Brooklyn has decided they want to trade Mikal Bridges for picks… we should let them trade with someone else!

That would make the Brooklyn picks we own way more valuable. We could trade them for someone much better than Bridges in that case.

You might say, well then what if they would only trade with us but not elsewhere for picks?

Then #1, that gives us enormous leverage if we are the only possible trade partner to execute their preferred plan.

And #2, we should do exactly what’s been happening — keep the possibility of the trade in the media but never execute it, in order to destabilize Brooklyn and Bridges

No idea why there are still more rumors. The most motivated time for both sides to this deal was last trade deadline. The Rockets get a major piece for their playoff run and the Nets get to properly start their full rebuild. The terms would be something like Jalen + all of the Nets assets back to them for Bridges and some of Phoenix's assets in return. This way the Nets can tank for as long as they want and the Rockets get some future high upside assets back to cover their losses from giving back Brooklyn all their picks and swaps.

4 years in a row in the top 4 .

If we dont make the playoffs next year , 0 tolerance . should be gone

If we make it like we should i'll shut up about him for a while until we dont win anything for another 3 or so years

Either lucky or the reports were grossly overstated/fake news.

Dude you can't count tanking years as "missed the playoffs" years. Tanking may not be your thing but that's what they were doing and it's a widely accepted practice.

Had it gone on longer than usual then yes you can criticize them for that. But overall we're counting years they attempted to make the playoffs. Udoka missed the play ins by a hair on the first try. We're ahead of schedule.

lol so if I tank for 8 years then “try” one year and almost make the play in … I am a success ?

    I understand we were tanking

all I said is that we’ve gotten very lucky with that so far . 4 years in a row we are picking top 4 .

along with completely turning over the cap last year , we should have had enough time to comfortable make the playoffs this year .

im not demanding a top 4 seed .

but if we don’t make the playoffs this year he should be gone

If we were to trade #3, the 2027 swap and Dillon Brooks for Bridges, it really locks in the 25 and 26 assets nicely. To where you would assume one or both would be top 6. Id probably be down. An extension for Bridges looks about 35 million per eligible in October.

It would effectively kill any availability they would have to put enough around Bridges to go 48-34 (IE Subs assets for Mitchell). I’d have to think that is part of the calculus.
