Good. It should be criticized it's trash. Nobody is asking for a documentary but something that vaguely resembles reality. There's a distinction between complaining about a 12th century helmet being in a film set in the 11th century [I don't need a documentary] and complaining about all the "good guy" characters having the personalities of a 2005 Hollywood agnostic [which is just nonsense].
Same thing with Napoleon. Most people aren't asking that every regimental insignia be perfectly correct or something but when you take ridiculous and wide departures from history in a period piece people are rightfully going to pan your movie. Both movies are absolute dog water. Napoleon even more so.
Few if any historical movies and shows are exactly accurate. For example Shogun. I’m a fan of movies based on history but part of the appeal Is generating interest in a historical period. I don’t consider or expect movies like Kingsom of Heaven to be accurate history but an entry into looking into the history of the crusades.
Thats not the complaint. Nobody is complaining about a lack of “exact accuracy.” It’s not people fussing over minor details. The problem with KoH is its extreme departure from history and its not even thinly veiled Christianity bad, Islam good, atheism/secularism best.
We could follow the Sudanese civil war, which receives very little coverage because not as clickable as ancient and repetitive religious violence. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...pens-ties-with-russia-iran-as-civil-war-rages Amazed / not-amazed that nobody seems to care in the US. Doesn't hit anybody's triggers.
This is a reminder that the aid that's being dispensed to Gaza is congressionally approved and congress allocated 9b in humanitarian aid. Another reminder that @AroundTheWorld @Commodore are shitty human being who spews disinformation for a living with no values
I think it's a terrible idea for many reasons. This food is meant for children and civilians. It's ignorant not to recognize that, it's cruel to support collective punishment, and it's extremely wrong to believe children are Hamas.
If you want to argue that Xerxes and the Persians were the good guys during their invasion of and attempt to subjugate Greece and the film got it all wrong, go for it.
At some point you're going realize that @Commodore @AroundTheWorld are awful human beings with no morals or values. All they do is lie non stop
Since I’m just sitting around waiting for the weather to clear for a BBQ I’ll play along. The Spartans were actually a cruel and sadistic culture that not only physically abused their children (as shown in the movie) but also sexually abused. They also kept a permanent underclass of slaves made up of other Greeks along with some other peoples. Not long after the Persian wars they brutally conquered much of the rest of Greece including Athens. The central theme of the movie of freedom versus tyranny didn’t really apply as the Spartans were more than willing to enslave and conquer others. On the other hand Xerxes wasn’t some weird androgynous tall guy but by many accounts was a good ruler who wasn’t just out for conquest but also physically improved the Persian empire. The Persian Empire was actually tolerant of other cultures and religions where as the Spartans were very intolerant. The initial invasion of Greece wasn’t just about conquest but that the Greeks had been fomenting revolts in Persian territory. All of that said I didn’t go into 300 expecting it to be close to historically accurate and in that regard it lived up to expectations.
Hamas is the government of Gaza. The government needs to be destroyed..the children need to be deprogrammed from the government teachings Send them to woke school for all I care but the whole populace needs a mind cleanse
