If PHX blows it up they will go Nets route and still try to be as competitive as possible. The 26/27 picks were always gonna be low because Simmons already goes off the books after 2025 so by then Nets can sign other guys and be competitive. It is rare you get 5 years of lotto picks from trades. Even the OG Celtics/Nets trade that set the precedent for picks and swaps only got Tatum and Brown as lotto picks. In our case we got Tari, this year's lotto and next year's swap. After that it is up in the air.
Reading your comment and thinking here. Hopefully after next season the Rockets are a top 5ish record in the league. If they are I would bet the nets are at the best a .500ish team giving you a 15-17th or so pick. Which could still get you a cheap role player when the salary cap becomes an issue with the team.
Would be hilarious after 3 years of not getting the #1 pick despite having the highest odds in each season, if we somehow end up with 2 Top 4 picks in this draft. If Phoenix blows it up, Green and both Top 4 picks for Booker.
Pretty sure Stone would trade him back his picks including #3 this year for the Suns picks and Bridges.
Considering Bridges can be traded for 9 FRPs, that's like 4 picks for 13. In all seriousness, I'm glad the Nets seem to be entering acceptance and aren't going to do something that would hurt the Rockets and the Nets for a few short term wins.
It's not "tanking" if you don't own your own picks, but you can still sell off and rebuild with other team's picks. Holding onto Mikal Bridges and going nowhere is not smart if you can trade him away and get a few picks. Same with the rest of the roster. Having a trove of picks from other teams means that not controlling your own is not that important. Besides, you only control your own picks so much (see Detroit).
yeah and I thought they were focused on reloading and staying on the mediocrity treadmill. But rebuilding does help, even if they don’t control their picks. So maybe they’ve seen the light. Maybe
Really hope we might upgrade from Brooks to Bridges. We can maintain our defense and seriously improve our shooting/spacing/transition without touching the core 6. Bridges looking more attainable every day. Hilarious to think someone would trade 3-4 picks for him now. Pretty sure the price is going to be two picks. Sengun Jabari (let's say he's up to 38% shooting) Bridges Green (let's say 36.6% shooting) FVV Bench: Amen, Cam, Tari, Adams Love this team. Must admit I worry Brooks' toughness will be missed but I hope that some of our youngsters have watched him and learned from him already. We want the production more than the excess drama. We need to make things easier on Sengun and Green. The defense has to stay strong for Sengun. The offense has to be more spaced for Green. That should be a primary goal this summer. If we can't find a major star acquisition, I like the fit for Bridges on this team. Would be nice to have as a 2nd/3rd scorer. Could propel us to near 50 wins imo.
Step1: trade the Nets all their picks back for Bridges and Suns picks Step2: trade the Suns all their picks back for Booker Step3: .... In all seriousness, I would much rather have Bridges with all the Suns picks and all 6 young core guys than Mitchell with less picks and less of the young core. I don't think either is a superstar but Bridges adds more value off the ball.
Pretty ridiculous basing a scenario on one of the worst shooters in the NBA magically hitting 36.6% of his 3's..... if we're not going to tether our scenario to reality, why not just assume Sengun his 45% of his 3's and Jabari his 50% of his?
