Whatever growth he has made on offense, it's not really showing up on the numbers. Subjectively, I do think he has improved a bit at passing, ballhandling, and playing within a team concept. On defense, he's definitely improved
Mostly agree. It does show up on some numbers as he never had a higher RAPTOR or VORP than this year. His impact in advanced analytics has improved. Some of that is just being on a better team. I think he actually improved a lot with his handles. Which gives hope for guys like Amen and Cam.
He very much is similar to Jaylen Brown except for his lack of defensive effort. Both north south guys and can be used in isos top of the key. Brown is more diverse having a nasty pull up jumper and mid post game. Hopefully Cam can diversify his offense and clean up the ball hogging while putting effort into running back and understanding his defensive assignments. .
A little bit on D. Still lets a lot of guys blow by him from the perimeter but he recovers quickly sometimes. He got better at his assignments but still guards wrong man from time to time. Needs to put in the effort running back especially after frustration with calls, after missing a shot or showboating.
Per 36 alone isn’t a reliable metric. Neither is TS% which uses a weird .44 coefficient for FT’s. Again stats and metrics can help paint a picture but not the entire picture especially when you are using a few arbitrary metrics
He isn’t a SG bro. Dunno why you and people keep saying this. His size and style similar to Jaylen Brown who is a 3. Cam has always been a 3 since college. He doesn’t move like a 2 guard, doesn’t handle like a 2 guard in terms of moving thru traffic in and out in the half court, doesn’t make plays for others or can play high screen and roll. He ain’t no 2 guard. Straight up scorer from perimeter iso or corner. Just like Jimmy butler or khris middleton aint no 2 guard. It’s about size, ability and skillset.
Dunno why these people keep saying he’s a 2 guard when he doesn’t have the skillet ability or experience. The man has never played like a guard since college. There is no such thing as “positionless” basketball. That was a Spoelstra term that people misconstrue and take out of context. He was referring to how the league has evolved with bigger players like Jokic or Lebron being able to handle the ball full court or play a hybrid position or how some 4s are fast enough to play 3 or guard 3’s and 2’s. But this doesn’t mean there’s no positions or that you can plug any player into a position you like. Jokic is still a C and Bron a 3. The skillset and ability still needs to be there. That’s why teams like Toronto couple years ago or Suns don’t work. You still need a big center paint defender. You still need a pg that can handle and make plays. You still need a 2 that can take over point if need be or handle full court and make plays for others. Cam can’t do that. He ain’t no 2. Lol
The improvement should show when he is on his own and not guided by a hawk like Udoka like it is his son. Udoka already said in interviews that he expects players to outgrow his over the top caretaking. That is when you know he stands on his own feet.
This is inaccurate. Cam shot 30% from 3 (31/101) his last 19 games. Also inaccurate. He does not stay in front of players and often lets them get by but he recovers and gets some stops or blocks due to athleticism. He also cheats the lanes a lot leaving players open after overplaying the lane. The Cam hype is unwarranted.
Please!!!! He just turned 20 years old! The "Hype," as you say is Very Warranted!!! Cam is a Beast! And will be hell to deal with, for the opponents. Cam will be one of the Top 1 or 2 players on our team.and top 5 in the NBA!
It is unwarranted and also double standard as Green was judged harsher since year 1. My comment was specifically about his shooting and man defense which wasn’t great and inconsistent. Unlike many people on this fan site I never said he couldn’t grow or develop into a good player. Despite this The hype and inaccurate assessments are unwarranted and premature at this point.
GTFO with that nonsense. What do you think FAN stands for? FAN-ATIC.....let people root and cheer however they like...we don't get to decide what is the correct way to FAN something...come on.... Green was a number 2 pick and Cam was 20 - Cam plays with more energy, and more force, than Green has ever played with......Cam may not develop into a Superstar, but at least he still has a chance, whereas Green is pretty much the same player he was coming into the league a decent inconsistent scorer. And for the record, the SF and SG are interchangeable. DD
When you begin a response with get the fuc$ out of here you lose all credibility and respect. You’re one of the most ill informed and ignorant fans on this site. Your belief in 3 and 2 is interchangeable shows your ignorance and lack of understanding when i said it was about ability and skillset. And no just beca You’re a fan does excuse you from presenting misinformation and falsely believing that players can’t grow or develop and has to mature into a good platform by a finite number of years. You have to learn to be humble and listen especially when you’re ill informed. Lose the emotions and re read what i wrote.
Yeah, more than 20 years of coaching ball and playing it into my 50s, I have no ****ing clue - GTFO here........ The SF and SG are interchangeable have been since the 70s. And I was a ****ING WIZARD with the ball in my hands.......PinPointPete baby! DD
