Agree 100% on Castle, he just doesn't ever look comfortable behind the arc, he really wants to play primarily in the midrange and that's just not modern basketball.
We have too many smiliar players like Castle in the roosters and defensive guards that lack a consistent shooting mechanic usually don't get draft that high. Landale has been our a servicable cheap backup big man, so we don't need to waste our 3rd pick on a back up big man like Clingan. Even if we don't retain Landale, we still have Adams, and there are many backup big man who can do the job in the market. Reed is 6.25" with shoes on, he fits our needs but he's definitely on the small size. Also drafting him at 3 is a little bit too high, maybe a weak draft doesn't matter? Between Dillingham and Reed, Reed fits our need better. Risacher is an interesting prospect, but I don't think he's better than Jabari. The perfect world would be if we can trade down to 5 or 6 and draft Reed there or just trade the pick and save ourselves some headaches.
What were the points per game I wonder or shooting splits- He doesn’t create his own shot like Curry does he has to be set up. He can’t get separation on his own.
Never saw him play or can’t be a judge on the level of competition in the G league but Ron Holland’s numbers are pretty dam good- Another 6’7 wing with near 6’11 wingspan to throw out there with Amen, Tari, and Jabari.
Which players with high feel, highly skilled in at least one area, high, relentless efforts / dog mentality with some weakness that has so far failed in the past few drafts? Sengun, Amen, JDub, Chet to name a few. I think players with this blend seldom fail, and more often than not are good long term investments that help team win basketball games. I'm team Reed.
Still not sure I know what to think of Risacher. He's not Jason Tatum (though he might be taller), but Risacher's no stiff on the wing. While some scouts apparently see only a 3-D spacer, Risacher seems a lot more fluid, with a bag of moves. Not sure I'd want to spend a top-3 pick on him, but he looks like a safe bet because he's played a lot more games against higher-level opponents. I hope we get some athletic testing numbers.
Curry never really created his own shot coming into the league either, that's why the Warriors would throw moving screens to create space for him to shoot so often. If you look at a lot of the shots Sheppard took, they look a lot like what Curry did....Sheppard just took fewer of them due to sharing the ball with a team loaded with talent vs being "the guy" on a mid major.
I think him and Jabari both are just winning basketball players. You have to have a few guys that are able to do the dirty work without it always having the ball. Eason Jabari Reed = that Then you have the players that suck in the defense = Green Sengun Cam Then the player that does everything (except shoot) Amen which I bet if it plays out right gets a ton of hockey assists in the coming seasons. Passing it to Green and Sengun. Which then passes to Reed Cam and Jabari. Then if they miss Tari and Amen grab th rebound to get another chance.
it's apples vs oranges. Curry was the entire offense at Davidson. Sheppard played on a very talented Kentucky team that was loaded with McDonald's All Americans. Curry averaged 28.6pts his final collegiate season on 38.7% 3pt%. That was on 20.2 shots per game , 9.9 3 point attempts and a 60.4 TS%. Sheppard came off the bench for Kentucky and averaged 12.5 pts on 51.2% 3pt%. His was on 8 shots per game, 4.4 3 point attempts. and 69.9% TS%. A 69.9% TS% is ridiculous. Sheppard was 3rd in scoring, 4th in Rebounds, 1st in assists, 1st in steals, and 5th in blocks for Kentucky last year. If he can shoot anywhere close to that then I don't care if he can create his own shot or not. Here's Sheppard's stationary shooting at the combine: Here's him shooting off of movement
Depends on who they are guarding. Chris Paul was overall a really good defender, but there were times that he was hunted in the playoffs because of his size.
I assume that the "off the dribble" shots in the chart posted by @zeeshan2 indicates self-created shots, or at least partially. I think Curry's strength isn't creating his shot but getting open through (moving ) screens. He's not the twitty kind of athlete that beats you with fancy handles and footwork.
i’ve seen MPJ comps because of his height, but in the halfcourt he looks like alex english and in transition like kerry kittles… at six foot ten
