I was super high on Cason Wallace before the draft last year and that has not changed after his first year. Cason Wallace fits a Rockets need, backup point guard who can take over after FVV moves on. OKC has too many young players and too many up coming FRPs. At some point, they may need to make roster moves to make room for those picks. If OKC does not see Wallace as a future starting point guard ... Alternatively the Rockets could draft Dillignham. Dillingham is better on O than Wallace and worse on D. I do think that some team is going to lose their mind and going after Reed Sheppard. This is the mostly likely trade scenario for the #3 pick. 1.3 plus salary filler for OKC 1.12 plus Cason Wallace plus a future mid to late FRP (or maybe given back one of Rocket's picks)? 1.3 plus salary filler for Utah 1.10 plus Markkanen plus a 2025 FRP (or more depending on if Utah thinks Reed is the second coming of John Stockton)?
Hell yeah let’s draft players for years and not start any of them to get minutes! I mean it’s not like you want them to get minutes to improve. Nahhhh
#3 pick + FVV for Booker #3 pick + Dillon Brooks for Mikal Bridges #3 pick + Jalen Green for Donovan Mitchell #3 pick + Dillon Brooks for Brandon Ingram #3 pick + Jabari Smith for KAT (if T-Wolves lose to the Nuggets)
FWIW, I would prefer this message in song version next time if at all possible thank you for your consideration.
Why not Brandon Ingram??? He's going to be on an expiring contract this upcoming season in which he'll be more of an attractive asset to trade (if it doesn't work out) versus Dillon Brooks. I get it with KAT, but he's only 28 years old and would be a great #2 option with Sengun! Look at how the T-Wolves are playing now with their Twin Towers
Yes. He has shortcomings, but the top players in this draft barring Saar and to a certain extent Topic seem to be quite disappointing. The draft combine and the workouts might help in getting to know them more.
who are you trading for that is not starting? Bridges Booker Van Vleet? I suppose you could bring Brooks off the bench at $20 mil per?? If not that is only Sengun starting.
I think fans tend to not look at the landscape of the NBA. Devin Booker is a top 15 player in the league RN and would require a big haul to land him. #3, Future 1st, Jalen Green + FVV or #3, a future first, JG, one of the other young guys + salary fillers. There's no reason for the Suns to get rid of Booker right now. I think a KD is gettable though and would be a tremendous addition to this team (he speaks highly of some of our young guys + is the elite shooter Ime Udoka wants) and is still a top 10 player in the NBA. EDIT: I'm not putting it past the Rockets to throw three firsts + JG + Brooks + fillers for any star in the league.
I would love to do 1.3 for Wallace. I think Wallace or even Taylor Hendricks or Jarace Walker would all go #1 in this draft even after a slow 1st year. Even GG Jackson was at some point projected to be top 3 in this draft. Getting any of then with that #3 will be a win.
Forget Ingram. I'd trade that plus another pick for Trey Murphy. That guy's floor is ultimate 3 and D and ceiling is star. He's being held back on that team and will flourish in another situation.
Booker and KAT are more often no shows in big playoff games. Ingram cannot be counted on to stay healthy for a full season. Bridges is nice, but who is to say Tari, Amen or a #3 picks cannot match his production in a few years with a much smaller cap hit. If the Rockets are giving that much for a star, they cannot afford guy who will just be the next Harden or Yao for this team. Especially as the next "veteran presence" for this young core.
