It would have to be. The Rockets would be stupid to give up Green and #3 for a season of Mitchell. Mitchell is everything Green will never be.
Exactly, but those are the type of players we should be targeting or wait for--not PG13, Mitchell, etc. We're better off developing the youngins.
Fair enough. I run into the same problem. The guys who I actually want as a difference-maker on this roster (that fit our timeline) are not going to be available.
How about Green/Tate/Brooks and #3 for Ingram and Trey Murphy? Sengun/Adams/Landale Smith/Eason Murphy/Amen Ingram/Cam FVV/Amen
I don’t see any must haves, gotta have, or “ooooh, let’s go get him!” Trae or Donovan may be the best players moved this off-season. (Not counting free agency) Trae? Donovan? Lauri? Ingram? Bridges? Dejounte Murray? Lavine? McCollum? Beal? Towns? (IF Wolves decide to go cheap?) 36 year old Durant? 35 year old Jimmy? Saw a poster earlier propose Kawhi (IF George AND Harden left) Long shot Hail Mary bids on LaMelo or Cade? (Pistons got 5th pick again, going nowhere fast; are Hornets tired of perpetually injured LaMelo and build around Miller?) Doesn’t appear Booker, Doncic, Giannis, Brown will be available.
I would in a heartbeat. Mitchell is a drought stopping by let getter, which is exactly what this team is missing.
The Rockets aren't going to take a player (in a draft bereft of obvious stars) that's duplicative and incompatible with a core 6 player they're already invested in. It'd be a waste of resources. IMO, that leaves only Sheppard and Knecht as real possibilities. We are already invested in a ton of wings, a locked in center, a lightweight on-ball offensive shot creator, and a big PG prospect who can get to the rim and pass but can't shoot. #3 might be too high for either guy -- hence I think the most likely trades are down into the bottom half of the top 10 to get another asset and take Sheppard or Knecht. There are lots of potential partners: - #3 to POR for #7 and one of POR's future unprotected draft assets from MIL or BOS - #3 to SAS for #8 and 2025 CHI FRP or 2026 ATL FRP - #3 to UTA for #10 and 2027 CLE FRP + 2028 CLE pick swap
Our roster still isn't complete. I doubt any serious Rocket fans are entertaining the idea of paying JG the max extension when he only shows up to 10 games a year. I just don't see JG here as a long term option and trading the pick for a 28yo who doesn't fit our timeline is not the answer. Either draft for our needs (shooting) or swing for the superstar potential. Hope Whitmore and Amen pan out and Tari to stop getting injured. We need guys who can replace FVV, Brooks and possible Jalen's production in the near future.
Our team played the best with Jalen as the main option and Sengun out. Jalen's definitely our best long term franchise player
Clingnan or shooting is the way I would go. I dont know much about this years draft class. Who can fill these two criteria?
I don't think there's a large gap between 3rd and 7th, 14th is added value. Someone always drops like Cam Whitmore last year. Like I'd rather take Knecht and Buzelis over just Reed Shephard. Who knows Shephard might even be there at 7
What are the chances Risacher lasts until top 3? I like CW more than him but I like him a lot more than Reed Shepherd.
I thought about that too but I can’t see Portland doing that. They need young, cheap, talent and I don’t think they want a player enough at 3 that they can’t potentially get at 7. https://www.blazersedge.com/2024/5/...cks-rookie-scale-salary-cap-analysis#comments
I believe there's at least a 60 percent chance of Risacher falling to 3. The Wizards need Topic more than him imo. Saar obviously has the highest chance of going at 1. CW isn't that good.
