We are going to Nashville with some friends (no kids!) for Memorial Day weekend.

We are staying downtown. I've never been so looking for some suggestions on things to do/see.

We are doing a Brewery Trolley Tour all day Saturday but are open to anything on Friday and Sunday.

Aaaaand go! (just kidding...I hate it when people do that)

May or may not be your thing, but the Country Music HOF is worth a walk-around

You can ask 10 people and you'll get 6 different answers about Hot Chicken...but I'd start at Hattie B's and branch out.

If you want to go Plantation-style, check out the Andrew Jackson Hermitage

We went to the Parthenon replica. It's kinda neat.

The best thing to do in Nashville is to eat - drink and fight.

Assuming you are too mature to throw down - I suggest the Grand Ole Opry if they have any shows...... I would also check out Fort Negley OR Centennial Park. The Country Hall of Fame is worth it if you have ANY interest in music. The BB King Blues Club is a must....... and last, but not least is a weird one, but very good...... Nashville Dark Secrets Ghost tour..... sounds lame but very good.

As for food.... LOU is very good and memorable, this is the best spot in Nashville...... Big Al's is awesome if you are starving and want comfort food...Monell's is also great.... Willie's BBQ is also worth it. You have to be careful in Nasville because you are going to come across a lot of fusion restaurants and an effort to make "upscale" Asian inspired food. IMO this stuff isn't very good in Nashville. For example their Vietnamese fusion food is inferior to anything in Houston. Their attempts at upscale fusion of Italian and French is nasty as well. It's Nashville - eat true to their roots.... Big Al's Deli and Monell's and LOU are the best spots. If you go to LOU you won't ever forget going there.

You are a musician, so I am sure you will have fun and will love the vibe.

When I was there, it felt like there was music everywhere.

Ima's from Houston, not sure why they hell he'd try to eat Asian food in Tennessee :)

Centennial Park is a good call. Never been, but I just learned that there's a Johnny Cash Museum there too. You've named a couple of things I've not done, kinda makes me wanna go back (and then drive up to Lexington and do a bourbon tour)

If you're a guitar player go to Gruhn Guitar. They'll let you play $30,000 guitars from the 1940's.

It is a worth another drive up and there is a Johnny Cash museum and a few other similar places. I agree with you on Asian food.... people from outside Nashville are coming in and establishing weird restaurants that really are not very good and certainly not consistent with Nashville. Nothing wrong with a Vietnamese restaurant or two.... but when literally 2/3 of the restaurants are fusion - that is a problem. Fusion is supposed to be created organically - not by a chef moving into town.

Best thing to do in Nashville?

    Leave Nashville.

Seriously though, drive out TN-100 to the Loveless Cafe, order whatever you want because it doesn't matter what you get because you're there for the biscuits. Order them by the dozen and put whatever else you order inside 'em. Forget dessert just slather them in butter and drown them in honey.
