Might be time to check out on this team and check back in at the end of May to see where they’re at………..see you tomorrow….
If the season continues at its current rate, trades should be made. But let's not pretend the Mets or Padres are "smart" franchises. Their biggest highlight of the past decade has basically been a playoff berth.
Unfortunately for them, they do this too often hoping for one WS season. The teams that are smart are the ones who see the horizon and do this methodically to get back on track at a quicker pace.
If Manfred wont allow Crane to rehire Luhnow, then please let him hire Sig , so the Stros can go back to the model where this dynasty was built. God, I miss Luhnow, Crane respected him. The rest of these GM's not so much. If Luhnow was still in charge Bags and Reggie wouldn't have a say.
1. Better bullpen performances all around. That unit needs to dig in and start pitching much better. They are killing this team. 2. Bregman and Alvarez must start producing right now. They are also killing this team, especially Bregman. 3. make a choice in CF and stick with it. Personally, I would play Chas there 5 out of 6 games. We saw him hit 22 homers in a semi full time role last year. For a couple of months he was an elite hitter. Meyers can’t do that. Dubon can’t do that. The defense is close enough that the difference really doesn’t make up for the hitting disparity. Yes I know Chas had a poor April. Many good hitters will have a poor April. But make a choice and stick with it, whatever it is. 4. Do not let Abreu get near the clubhouse again this season unless we are completely out of the race. He carries a soul sucking malaise of defeat with him. Also it would really help if the Astros could start hitting in clutch situations here and there sometimes.
Astros need a line-up change...bad. Just to shake things up a bit R 2B Altuve L 1B Singleton R SS Pena L RF Tucker R C Diaz L DH Alvarez R 3B Bregman L CF Loperfido R LF Dubon
Patience and hope. Theres over 100 games left. They are .500 over their last 10 games. But we all should be prepared for the idea that this is a reloading year.
Look towards 2025 by trading Tucker, Verlander, Bregman, and a few others. Try to get back at least 2 MLB players in those deals. Fire the entire training and coaching staff.
