No - the circumstantial part is a lot of factors. It can be who you have available in the pen the rest of the series.. how confident you are with your lesser relievers pitching a clean cleaning inning versus having a runner on second.. what your record is… how confident you are that you will score, who the other side is bringing in to pitch.
Yeah, that’s a bunch of bullshit, but applying all of that to this game, and Hader is still the call for the 9th (but not the mythical 10th). with the rest days, everybody available. With their shitty record, and shitty pitching, they need the best of their pitchers to pitch in close/winnable games. Ideally they don’t **** this up when leading 8-3 and Brown allows one runner. But they did already.
I never imagined the bullpen being this much of a toxic waste site enveloped in a dumpster fire while leaking this much radiation.
Well that went about how I expected. Now Hader is out for the rest of the series… he doesn’t do well pitching multiple innings either. Maybe this pathetic display of managing will get Crane pissed enough to call Dana and hire an MLB manager.
Guardians manager pulled their closer after just a 10 pitch 9th that wasn’t a save situation. weird game.
