The poster didn’t say he would have rather us lose. He said he worried if we made it, people would have used it to say we don’t need Sengun. Which would be stupid. It’s not the same as saying “thank god we didn’t make play in so they can’t say we don’t need Sengun.” It was a silver linings post. “Well we didn’t make it so at least they can’t say stupid things about Sengun.” whether it’s Yao, Lin, Sengun, Jalen or whomever, this forum has a serious gate keeping problem for fandom. So what if some people here are only player fans? They’re watching our games. They’re still cheering for our team even if it’s only because they like one player. We don’t have to view everything through the lens of SOF or whatever the latest iteration is.
As Rocket fans let's be grateful there is a fandom rvalry between Green and Sengun, two young up and coming stars rather than that pit in the stomach feeling believing that Christian Wood, a broken Olidipo and a finished John Wall was our core to look forward to. That was the most depressing rocket season ever because we sucked and had no "core" to look forward to. It was basically what the Wizards are today.
Most of the time, people mind the only-fans because they don't like that player. The "I like the player just not his fans" is mostly BS. If they liked the player they wouldn't mind so much the only-fans defending the criticism of the player, unless it's really annoying over the line stuff.
The hypocrisy of the haters is blaming only fans of rooting for the player to the expense of the team and enjoying the player's failure at the same time. All the negative threads about Sengun are full of expression of joy from the haters to see Sengun fail and most of the time they are just wishful thinking with no basis: 'Ime Udoka knows Sengun will be a defensive liability', Yeah, right!
Those were the darkest of times. When Beard forced his way out I thought we'd be ****ed for at least a decade tbh.
It's not just Sengun, it's how the haters try and frame it for all players they don't like. Ime thinks Sengun's a liability the same way Ime and the FO have been out on Jalen for months and are ready to trade him for a bag of chips because he's a bust.
Do realize the number of negative & inaccurate threads & posts Sengun engaged in? Coach Silas is racist, KPJ hated Sengun, Sengun's better than Dream etc..This is something you won't win
