Because normally star players with no guarantees beyond 1 year are going to either get a new deal from you or sit out. Not to mention that by redoing his deal and giving him new money the Texans would lower his cap hit.
With a second year CJ, a healthy squad, a free agency that was more a statement, and the draft, I definitely see us being one of the top 3-4 teams in the League. At minimum, the AFC Title game...this year, perhaps the SB. Perennial serious contender for the next decade...Caserio is methodically building a ...... On Diggs - We paid for who he is NOW, and how he fits so well. For 2-3 years we can get solid WR2 production...that compliments what we have perfectly. He's been durable. And there's flexibilty in however they handle his contract(s). Considering how deep this team should go each postseason, and his role...in the big picture, that #2 is a bargain. This is about winning it all multiple times. Big window with CJ.
Ok I'm 10 toes down now... No Caserio slander will be tolerated on my watch! Lol .. I so apologize to Nicholas
This is payback for that brutal day of January 3, 1993. A day where I determined that my butthole will never be same after "Reich's got a man in the corner". Let's go Texans!!!
Man............I am so pumped about this trade; Nick got the better of this deal. I am shocked to see how fast Nick and company have turned this dumpster fire into a contender. I take back all the crap I said about Nick.......I was way wrong, this off season the man is playing 3-D chess and everyone else is playing checkers. The window to be a real contender is so small based on the QB meager salary (by QB standards) for the first 5 years that you have to make the ballsy moves because one day we will be on the other side of a trade like this. KC has a great playbook to win and still pay Mahomes but not sure that will always work but dam this is fun
