Scoring a lot of points is a function of how many shots one gets and takes.

Saying player A is a better scorer who had the green light to jack up endless shots, no matter how inefficient vs. player B who was deliberately marginalized in the offense under Silas is not a convincing argument.

A guard in today’s game will always be a better scorer than a traditional big man. Green can easily drive to the basket or shoot threes in volume.

If Green shot league average for a starting SG, he would be averaging more points than Sengun this year.

At the same time though, compared to Sengun, Green will probably be much worse when double teamed. He doesn’t have the court vision Sengun has. Worse, Green puts too much pressure on himself to score, so when he is having a bad shooting day, he tends to force things and end up having a really bad stat sheet.

Green made 1.1 more FG on 5.2 more shots per game in total over their first three seasons. The first two seasons, he had the green light to chuck, Sengun did not.

This season, Green still shoots more, but Sengun scores more.

Referring to the two seasons of crap under Silas as proof of one being a better scorer than the other is silly.

One thing I will say is that Green scores in more different ways (threes and long jumpers).

But so did Isiah Rider compared to Hakeem, so that in itself means nothing to me.

Against the g leaguers who were actively tanking and wouldn't even try to double him? Those defenses were horrendous. He just dropped 42 on DPOY candidate Wemby's head. I think he coulda got 50. The only big Washington played was Holmes. Alpi coulda feasted.

I get that but now you are talking hypotheticals because we hadn't a situation where Alpi had to play without Green for a long stretch.

Remember last year when KPJ went out and Silas was forced to play through Alpi, he immediately scored his then career high of 33 points against the Lakers.

This season he showed again and again that he can be an elite scorer. 37 points against a healthy Pelicans team or his near 30 point explosion in a single quarter against the Pistons. When he is on, he is on.

I believe Alpi would have stepped up the same way Jalen did but in the long run it's much better for the team to have them both on the floor.

Why are you lying? First season was a bench player and second season he had multiple games over 20.
You’re flat out lying dude. And Jalen has a higher usage and more FGA this season than Alp, so much for being offensive option 1.
You’re a liar. I get being a Jalen stan, but no need to put our best player down to do it.
Real rockets fans support both. You wouldn’t know that being a foreigner

He will never come anywhere close to Dream on the defensive side but could come close on the offensive end. Dream was the best offensive + defensive player ever. That is what made him so great was the combination of both. IMHO he is the GOAT for the entire league which has been objectively proven. Alpi will never come close to that but he might come close to Dream on one side of the ball and is a better passer. Only time will tell. One thing for sure he has the best post game of any Rockets player since Hakeem.

Cmon guys what are we doing here? Dream came into the league destroying everything in his way. His game was power and intimidation. It wasnt a soft layup game. I agree Sengun is a more natural passing big man. You can even compare the two in that neither were jump shooters in their early stages, but thats about it. Dream became a great shooter out to 15+ feet - will Sengun be able to do the same? No need to even bring up the defensive side of the ball between these two guys the DPOY trophy is named after Dream. I try hard not to invade y'alls safe space here, but every now and again you guys get out of pocket.

Sengun started off this season hitting a lot of 10-15 shots. For whatever reason, possibly Ime making a change???, he quit taking those shots as much sometime in January. He definitely has the ability to make those already.

Nobody said Sengun = Dream. You should re-read that post before you trigger yourself again.

Ignoring that Dream taught Alperen things at your own peril......dude is not Hakeem but he is a student of the game.
