I imagine the bridge was important for interstate commerce, thus the federal interest. It allowed large trucks to bypass Baltimore en route to Delaware and Pennsylvania. There are other routes to take, but none of them were as close to the port.
the bridge was part of the Baltimore beltway. there's another way around, and there are also two tunnels. I'm not saying it's not inconvenient, but the crucial issue is getting that portion of the port operational again. and to do that, they need to remove the old bridge. it will be years before a new bridge is built.
The bridge isn't just an inconvenience to the Baltimore community, but it is important to our national economy. So unless your intention is hurting our economy as a way to get trump votes... I'd suggest getting that work started as quickly as possible.
Isn’t the bridge part of interstate highway? Don’t the fed government pay for interstate highway construction? As for insurance and private party responsibilities , there are at least 3 international corporations involved. The fact finding is going to take some time and then the legal mess isn’t going to be settle anytime soon. Go ahead and spend 1b or whatever the cost to rebuild and then recoup what you can later. Also, I recall Congress unanimously voted to fund for rebuilding a collapsed bridge in MS about a decade ago. The old days of no political for bridges.
LOL https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/baltimore-bridge-collapse-what-we-know/3577053/ The bridge was “a normal commuting route for 30,000 Marylanders every day,” Gov. Moore said. It had 185 feet (56 meters) of clearance above the water and was a key cog in the region's transportation infrastructure. The American Trucking Association estimated some 4,900 trucks per day carrying an annual average of $28 billion worth of goods would have to be re-rerouted — at a cost to shippers and ultimately consumers
Bailing out and giving insurance companies more power is a Democrat superpower. Bidens greatest strength is giving away everything. @astros123 Biden will go down as a terrible president.

dude, have you been to Baltimore, or driven the Baltimore beltway? through the harbor of McHenry tunnels? do you know the names of the highways w/o MSNBC telling you?
