I don't think they can experiment really. Isn't it a hard process to tweak the uniform even a little bit and get league approval? I think they said it took a few years to get approval to make this change? Cal has made a total 180 as an owner in the last 12 months.
I'm guessing a color/pallete swap would not require nearly as much overhead as a whole redesign. I fully expect to see color tweaks/swaps happen as they iterate over the years.
I'm fine with. Not in love with it. I just really hope the home uniforms are no longer a blue top with white pants. So boring.
They can, I believe, mix-and-match existing elements. So if they have a red helmet, they could - again, I believe - transition to that full-time. But, no - they cannot full-on redesign elements without going back through the approval process. Honestly, I'm kind of surprised the Falcons didn't pitch a fit. Good/bad - those road uniforms look VERY much like Atlanta's.
They're growing on me, mainly because I like the darker blue, "Houston" on chest, numbers, and bull horn on shoulder is alright. If these are the most tame, then I'm excited to see what's next.
These look solid honestly. Can’t complain too much. Only real gripe is that there should definitely be more Red involved. They should’ve kept the red numbers honestly. That’d look considerably better imo. The red numbers is what made our road uni’s really pop and it was unique, as no one other team had that look. The blue numbers makes it more generic and bland. But I digress. All in all, these could’ve been much worse. Hopefully the other 3 are even better.
Seriously, what the hell are so many looking at? “HoUsToN FaLcOnS!” They look nothing alike. • Texans- number font outlined - Falcons drop shadowed number font • Texans shoulder horn pattern - Falcons no shoulder pattern • Texans no side stripe - Falcons side stripe • Texans no shoulder numbers or sleeve logo - Falcons shoulder numbers and sleeve logo •Texans “Houston” spelled out across jersey - Falcons “Atlanta” is abbreviated (ATL)
I don't think they look like copies, they just look like they could be swapped for ATL and it make sense. I don't know how to explain it. But really, it doesn't bother me.
I can see how one would say they are similar and unfortunately, it is the most prominent part so it makes for an easy target. The red font for Housont/ATL, The Dark number outlined by red vs the red shadow on a white jersey, and the actual fonts are similar. I do think there are enough differences. The ATL always seemed too big and now that I'm looking at them side by side The Texans have a much cleaner look, less cluttered. (The big ATL, stripe, and the big numbers and logo on the shoulders) I was cold at first with our impersonation of Bryce Young wearing it in a random location Then I warmed up to them with the production photo. Now I'm pretty HOT on them and can't wait for the others. I'm guessing the H-Town Blue is going to be an accent on one jersey?
I wish they had put the "horn" under the armpit. Kinda like this but lower. Insertion point at the armpit, horn could circle around or up the front of the shoulder.
