The only show I ever went to alone was to see King's X at Rockafellers after Gretchen came out (prob '89 or '90). I lost quite a bit of hearing that night. Galactic Cowboys opened.
So far this year: Tool - amazing on every level. US at Sphere - wow, but Bono is beginning to show his age Band of Horses - solid acoustic / electric double set Porno for Pyros - Janes is better, but still fun Upcoming: Decemberists in Brooklyn and Philly Dead and Co at Sphere x3 Foo Fighters at Citi Field Weezer and Flaming Lips at MSG Vampire Weekend MSG Someone offered me a Future Islands ticket but I dont know them, listened on Spotify and they seemed very 80s.
Out of the blue The Crystal Method and Rabbit in the Moon popped up in Houston for tonight! Pulled some strings and going with some old-school EDM lovers. It's gon be lit af!!!
Saw Future Islands open for Modest Mouse in Houston not that long ago. I didn't care for it. Was very boring but also strange. Can't really explain it. I'm finally getting to go to Red Rocks this year. Going to see The Avett Brothers with Melissa Etheridge opening in July. Super stoked about it, even if I'm not crazy about what I've been hearing from the new album. Taking my son to Austin tomorrow to see Good Kid. I don't know them but what little I've heard ain't bad. Taking my wife to Austin later this summer to see Janet Jackson, again. Not my thing but my wife loves her.
Did anyone catch The Stones in Houston this weekend? My buddy had an extra ticket but I couldn't go. I probably would have figured out a way to make if happen is Charlie Watts was still alive... Picked up some tickets to Jeff Lynne's ELO in October. This will make a cool Mother's Day gift for my wife!
This year I have seen a bunch of 90's throwbacks. -Dinosaur, Jr. -Teenage Fanclub -Dandy Warhols Upcoming: -Tenacious D -Explosions in the Sky -Sleater Kinney -Jesus & Mary Chain
I'm going to Built 2 Spill in Asheville in SEP. I've seen them plenty of times. And been to Asheville plenty. Why not combine the two for once. Dinosaur Jr. - more so than any band I can think of over that long a span of time - has changed the absolute LEAST of anyone EVER IMO. If they played all their songs live today in no particular order, to a new audience, no one would be able to tell which songs were the early stuff vs new.
Wish they were coming to Houston or somewhere near on a weekend...seen them eight times, including their show at Rudyard's.
Neil Young Wilco Pixies w/ Modest Mouse Cake Mountain Goats/New Pornographers The Roots w/ Digable Planets and Arrested Development Waxahatchee Jason Isbell Weezer w/ Dinosaur Jr Drive-by Truckers
One more Police tour. PLEASE. Just one more! I just have this fear that one of them is going to die (like Neil from Rush) making another reunion impossible.
Going to see Heart in Red Rocks. Not my ideal band (and I've seen them already) but it's the band that will be playing when I'm there. Seeing a concert in Red Rocks is on my bucket list.
Just saw Neil Young and Crazy Horse at the Orion Amphitheater in Huntsville, AL. Great show and Neil and can still bring it. I saw it with a college friend and we saw him with Crazy Horse in the early 90's in San Francisco while in school. My friend invited me down to see him for my friend's bday. 30+ years later Neil Young has mellowed and this show wasn't as loud or fast as the show in the 90's but he still sounded great and can play guitar as well as he ever can. This is the San Diego show from the same tour.
