The real question I want is, how can we catch KC? WHAT ARE THE TEXANS DOING? You can not catch KC collecting bottom feeders, we need elite talent. If I had a QB on a rookie deal, why not overpay for a top 2 or 3 running back? Cashman wanted to come back, he signed for $25M but Caserio just gave another LB $37M. So it baffles me as to why he couldn't pay an extra $2M or $3M to get Barkley
dude, trust me, we are aligned on this. I think caserio should get more credit than Demeco for the past year than you do. But that also means I’m blaming him for this conservative off-season (so far).. Both can be true. Just know that on the state and expectations for this off-season, I agree with you and hope something happens.
Good: Mixon, Al-Shair, Hunter Bad: Collins trade was for Armstead who you didn’t end up signing and now starting DT is Settle?? Okudah as your other starting CB? Seriously? Safety depth added Murray and Johnson yuck, behind Ward who can’t stay healthy and Pitre who can’t cover or tackle. Not sure about the trade down yet but the last time Nick traded down we got Kenyon “bust” Green while Baltimore took pro bowler Kyle Hamilton. Lots of offseason to go and we signed guys like Rankins and Schultz late last year. I’d prefer to see more at DT, S, CB2.
I assume we'll address some of those needs in the draft though, no? Or do you think we need to address them before then?
I wouldn’t count on second rounders to fill starting spots, plus you are pigeon holed into drafting for need rather than BPA or taking advantage of another trade down opportunity.
Today's trade gets us good value -- not upset about that at all. But it delays the reward, which I question, given that we are "in our window" with Stroud on his rookie deal. This is a trade an aging team that is on the decline should make... not an upwardly ascending team with a young star QB.
My best guess based on the current roster. He'll probably be rotating with Khalil Davis (who actually was pretty good last year) at one DT spot. The other DT spot will probably be Futakasi on running downs and Autry on passing downs.
why not count on 2nd round to be the starters? last year teams got starters and big contributors from the 2md round: Sam Laporta, and Branch from Detroit, Rashee Rice for KC, (the only WR last tear) Joey Porter to Steelers, Seattle Zach Carbonnet, started, even the texans had a nice contribution, from Juice as a starter.
Right? Unless it's a "project" guy, you're absolutely drafting starters (or at worst rotation players) in the first 2-4 rounds
