LOL, but what about our secondary? We were 19th in the league last year. That's a lot worse than the rest of our defense.
The Mixon deal is structured to be basically a one year extension, with 2 extremely cuttable extra years with only 3 million total guaranteed. If they like him this is exactly the type of deal they should make. Some risk of course for wasted money next year if he falls off a cliff, but more upside if he ages well. I don't like investing huge dollars or draft capital addressing RB which is such a dependent position on other players. It's been a revolving door position for many great teams the last 20 years.
I guarantee Armstead told SF he was willing to goto Houston for 2yr deal and his agent fished around and found better deals and they tried to get Houston to bite … Nick and Meco then held up they end of the deal - also multiple people saying Collins was solid vs run but not vs pass
Yea Mixon's extension is fine since it's front-loaded. $10M next year and if he suddenly sucks for some reason, it's not a huge cap hit if we cut him next Summer. If he continues to play like the versatile workhorse Joe Mixon that he's been in Cincy up to this point in his career, then he's well worth the money on the back-end. No problem with this extension. Still a great trade imo.
"The contract has $13 million in full guarantees, with $9 million in 2024 and $4 million in 2025. He also has per-game roster bonuses of $1 million total in 2024; that’s a high number, but it creates a very clear incentive to be fully available to play." Don't know who is right, either way not a bad deal.
Yeah it said 3 year extension. It isn't. It restructured this year and 4 million guaranteed next year so not bad.
