Sign Settle from Buffalo, and draft one in the first round. It's not ideal, but it also isn't the end of the world. Now we really need to go out and get Justin Simmons.

Armstead was the plan until Hunter took less money to come here

I don't want to settle for Settle. There are other needs on our team and better players to take those spots.

No you can still use the 23rd pick on BPA. But the second will definitely be a DT.

The thing about interior D linemen is that they usually take 2 years to bear fruit wherever they get drafted. That’s the norm from what I’ve read. You have outliers like Arnold, Sapp or Suh who come out the gates blazing but it usually two years for DT to hit their potential. Chris Jones didnt really hit his until the 3rd year. Same thing for John Randle iirc.

I think we’ll sign some run stuffer FA DT, draft a DT after the 1st round and let him get some reps in as a rotational player. Unless Murphy drops to #23.

Well I guess I can understand us deciding to pivot from Armstead once we agreed to terms with D. Hunter and I have no problem with us deciding to do San Fran a solid and go through with sending Collins to them BUT it can't be for only a 7th rounder.
With them selecting at the very bottom of each round it should have been a 4th or 5th at least!

I think there's still IDL depth players out there
Sebastian Joseph-Day (SF) & Taven Bryan (IND) come to mind (besides Tart).

We still have Hinish, Agim, & a re-signed Davis.

    Via Trade
I might see if Broncos would let Matt Henningsen go for a 7th.

Worth it to at least call the Bills about Oliver.

Milton Williams who is with the Eagles might be worth an inquiry.

I would really go after Timmy Horne with the Giants. Planet-sized human who moves well / is explosive.

Trysten Hill played some his best ball for our DC when they were in AZ.

Bobby Brown III played at A&M & Rams may be willing to let him go for a late Day 3 pick.

All I am saying is, there's options.

I really wanted the freedom to grab a WR at 23. I would be down to pivot if Quinyon Mitchell or Byron Murphy fell, but would otherwise go WR. Now I feel like we HAVE to go DT… unfortunate.. hope we go get Simmons with that money. Wish we went for Kendall Fuller

Go get Howard and Blackmon and call it a day. I think Simmons price tag is too high

I guess we are now at having to take a DT at 23 and depend on a rookie unless there is something brewing we don't know about. Not optimal.

Not making an offer means they have been talking to people in San Francisco about his health issues. They had a price and years and weren't willing to go over it for a player on the downside of their career.
