Before the war started every single country in the west was willing to make concesions and Biden even offered to write in writing that USA would veto any NATO talk about Putin but he refused the offer. Putins offer was that he would only not invade ukraine if the USA withdrew all of its mliitary assets in eastern european countries including those of nato countries like Romania. I have been warning as much for nearly two years. time is on the Russians' side. Had Biden given them the weapons they asked for from the beginning, they might have had a chance.
What so few realize is that Ukraine/West is fighting the war Russia prefers. Russia has the infrastructure in place to continuously feed the front line with almost no interruption. On top of that, Russia is able to utilized cheap munitions. They are not using state of the art military equipment that takes months to build. Russia is zerging their way through this. Historically this has been Russias strong point and it's working well now. Where as Ukraine has to beg and plead, import their munitions while sending it through treacherous supply chains and distribution to the front lines. Ultimately the Wests response to this invasion has been piss poor and now they very well may need to concede Kiev.
Having support earlier would have certainly affected the battlefield at the start. Ukraine at best could have driven the Russian troops back into Russia and reclaimed their 2014 borders. But ... Like you said, time is on Russia's side. Russia has both a man power and equipment advantage. Russia also appears to not care what their losses are; they just keep coming. I do not know what conditions would drive the Russians to peace talks. If Ukraine can hang on another two years or so, the Russians might run out of tanks and other equipment. I am unsure that would stop the Russians ... just slow them down.

Ukraine refused to share any info about its army before the war and the first few months of the war. They didn't trust the Americans and thought they would leak the info to the Russians. The pentagon repeatedly said Ukraine wasn't in a position to train large swamps of its army cuz it wasn't prepared for the invasion. Before the invasion Zelenskys people called biden a war monger and they refused to organize their military for an invasion. I don't understand why people lie and spin misinformation so much.
The United States gave away all of its ancient equipment and was able to wipe off 300k dead Russians and set them back for a decade. Ukraine was firmly holding their ground before trump got involved and demanded to stop giving them aid. You anti ukraine folks just spew lies all day and live in another universe.
