Academy was total crap back in the day, Oshman's was a great store... I grew up with their kids, great people, great store (also, Barcelona Sporting Goods off of I-10)...eventually they just couldn't compete and Academy became a great store
Absolutely how it was. It’s crazy what we forget until it’s brought up. Funny thing is I’m at Academy at least once a week now lol
Gotta know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em... I miss them, I miss a lot of people I grew up with in old-school Houston.
The Oshman's SuperSport at 1960 and 249 used to be such a cool spot. When we were in high school, my buddies and I would go there and run 3 on 3 on the little half court they had, then go have putting challenges on their little putting green. Then we'd hit up that Jack in the Box right next door on the way home. Good times.
Barcelona was so great for baseball. Even for my sons. I’m not sure it’s still open, but they had a location in the strip center where Jason’s Deli is near Memorial City Mall.
After I wore out my first as a kid...I got my 2nd (IF) and 3rd (OF) (Rawlings, Heart of the Hide, gifts from my dad) gloves from that place. Still have them. And the 1B mitt that I have has stories about.
As a guy who really liked the old Oilers and Gamblers uniforms, I'm hoping for something awesome that forces my old ass to buy a jersey again. If the marketing department pulls that off, I think we'll all be excited.
Seconded. Really hope that guy is BS’ing. Tired of every team having a black alternate already. It’s so gimmicky and unoriginal — completely played out already, and doesn’t even make sense as the Texans have never used the color black in their scheme.
No, I did not...or did I? I don't care about colors...yall figure it out, whatever you want Max: do yall want some bats?
