I have no idea what happened to Jalen earlier this season. Almost seem like he quit on Udoka for benching him so many times. Because he couldn't even make a layup just 2 weeks ago. Now he's finishing basically everything at the rim. If he continues to do that and hustles like he has the last 3 games he will be just fine. The shot is always hit or miss and he's gotta shoot it to open up the drive. But his issue early the season was he couldn't make anything including layups got hesistant driving to the basket and turned the ball over a ton.
He has always been such a confidence player. When he has it, he can use his athleticism and body control to finish around the hoop. He started getting a benched a ton and lost confidence. The facts are that for the large part of the season he has improved in areas he previously struggled to contribute, most notably defense and rebounding. He is averaging 1.2 more RPG in 4 less minutes.
Jalen gets no calls for some reason when he drives. If he got a whistle he would be much better and aggressive all the time. He desperately needs to rework his shot. I am not sure what's going on but his misses are all over the place.
That's true. We badly need more 3pt shooters. Funny Bullock is a good 3pt shooter and we signed for that. But he sucks at everything else so bad he can't get on the court other than garbage time. Cam too is good at 3 but not very good at a lot of other things, but he's young and should improve. If he's too poor at playmaking, he might not be able to win the starter job even if Jalen isn't what we hope.
LOL its wild. We just watched a great team effort and a historic individual effort and the best some of the misers can do is look for the negatives. Such a sad and pathetic life.
I want Jalen to succeed, when he understands that Sengun is Batman and he is Robin, he will add great value to this team. His effort on rebounding and trying 2 man game with Alpi is so valuable and deserves recognition, but he should stop acting like he is T-Mac or Allen lverson... I am.optimistic about him, they can become a great duo.
Even on nights where he literally has the highest +/- on the team he still gets shitted on. I'm fine with bad 3pt shooting nights if he's being doing great at every other aspect of the game which he did last night from playing aggressive defense, to aggressively attacking the rim to finding teammates in the flow of the offense with good playmaking while also taking care of the ball.
He needs to learn how to create contract and finish thru that contact. It would make him so much better and efficient. Getting a better shot is his #1 priority, but thats prolly gonna take some time. But in the meantime, if you could improve his efficiency by getting to the stripe more frequently that would be huge. Hes been showing improvement finishing inside, even if he still doesnt finish with his left hardly. His reads have been pretty good recently, and its been a steady progression all year. He just cant hit the side of a barn too often from deep. I want less 3s attempted, but it seems Udoka is not wotried about the 3pt efficiency as long as its the right read. Problem is the defenses are forcing the correct read to be a pull-up 3 very often and Jalen cant convert. I just want 35% from deep if he continues improving elsewhere.
Ya a lot of his three point atrempts are from defenses playing under the screen when guarding him. He needs to take those threes and he needs to convert A lot of his success attacking the rim relies in defenses not playing under the screen with him. He's more dangerous when defenders get up on him where he can blow by them. Less step back threes but he needs to keep on taking the threes the defenses give him until they stop playing under the screen with him. On nights when he's hot from three you start seeing defenses press up on him instead of playing drop coverage or playing under and that's when he can attack like crazy.
The bias has always been there. Observe the difference when one player puts up a single 40pt game and another puts up several.
I think same guys with different accounts does that to every player to draw divisions among fan base...it's asinine...As a proud Sengunatic, I thought Jalen played very good winning basketball last night. I hope the kids can carry the momentum today!
For me, I want to see Jalen have a good game against a good team - one that plays defense, we have seen him do well against **** teams like San Antonio, and even Phx defense is not great. So, just want to see him do well against the better teams, and consistently well. DD
He was fine last night even with his shot way off. The bigger thing is that there won't be a long term place for him here with a broke 3pt shot. If Jalen turns into a player where last night was a normal bottom 1/3 game for him, the last Suns game a normal top 1/3 game, and the Suns game before that a normal middle 1/3 game then that will be a very good player. YMMV on how likely you think that is.
Jalen played well last night, tried hard on defense. Except for his 3-point shooting, which was awful. 1-10.
I think part of what's going on is he's not attacking the rim as often and the other part is that WE are a physical defensive team. When you're a physical defensive team, what you're trying to do is get the refs to call the game differently, allow you to get away with little pushes and shoves that they normally wouldn't. Elite defensive wings talk about this all the time. How that's affecting Jalen is that if the refs are calling the game different, then they call it different for your team too. Refs are not as willing to give us fouls. He just has to get stronger physically and adjust a little bit back to attacking with force. Udoka has done a good job of forcing him to play at different speeds, find creative ways to score in the paint. However his core game should always be to use his athleticism and quickness to get downhill and finish strong very much like a Westbrook, Morant or a mini Giannis. These guys have to work on their jumper too but they never get too far from who they really are.
The improvements in his defense is inspiring, but you expect your #2 draft and SG consistent shooting. If Jalen can not shoot with normal percentage he does not have varied skillset and high baseketbal like Sengun, so his mistakes can not be tolerated, there is no reason to play him infront of Amen....
