He might trade down this time to pick up more or future picks I was concerned about scheme fit, but HOU interviewed him to alleviate my fears. There really is no consensus of individuals as much as groups with individuals rising and falling within them. I've seen Newton fall more, but rated higher in his group. And some of it has to do entirely by runs on QB, OL or CB.
Definitely, but 23 and a future 1st won't get you there. At least not on the simulator. Value chart should get you to 13 where he falls to about 1 in 10 drafts. But to get to 10 you have to include 59, 86,124 and 128. He'd probably have to fall to 15 to have a chance, even with 23 and 2024 1st.
Much prefer to trade down if Murphy is off the board. There are about 25 good receivers in this draft. Not many defensive tackles of note. Trade out of the first round to an early second if possible and pick up a third. Get a receiver in the second and fill in from there.
Putting Wilkins and Newton together on the DL is exactly what Ryans was talking about when he said he wanted to improve in the trenches.
I see him falling to about there. I would offer the 2025 first and that's all I would offer. I think Bowers is that special. I get why many wouldn't want to make this trade.
It's not unusual to Buy one in FA and Draft one. Collins is a good veteran Backup or replacement on the inside whose contract expires at the end of this or next season. It may be an option or dead money situation, Trying to figure it out from SPOTRAC is like getting a contract written front and back and only getting one side copied to figure out what's going on.
Lance Z has the Texans trading up for Mitchell. https://www.nfl.com/news/lance-zier...-up-for-j-j-mccarthy-chiefs-add-xavier-worthy 19. Houston Texans - Quinyon Mitchell · Toledo · CB · Senior PROJECTED TRADE WITH RAMS GM Nick Caserio follows up his aggressive (and successful) 2023 draft with a move up the board for a big, fast cornerback to pair with Derek Stingley Jr., as the Texans seek to take a step forward in competing with the top offenses in the league.
This is what a few local podcasters/reporters (Jake Asman and Cole Thompson) have said upon their return from the combine. Thompson suspects we will go with DL/CB with the first and WR 2nd. He didn’t have us trading tho. I believe he said DE Chop Robinson and Darius Robinson or CB Terrion Arnold are prime candidates. Also said Greenard and Cashman are likely gone. But Dalton will stay in some for or fashion. I guess that means getting tagged if he doesn’t resign.
Man, I wish they could find a way to keep Cashman. Oh well, it's time to find another hidden gem like Cashman again. Hopefully Caserio signs a difference making LB in FA (Al Shaair) and a guy like Ced Gray in the 4th rd.)
Without seeing who's available it's easy for me to say right now that I'd rather trade down than up. There's so many names that will be there at #23. I wouldn't mind trading down to get an extra 3rd/4th round pick. I'd rather stay put or trade down.
Problem is it looks like they're going to let Cashman walk. I'm on board with picking Wilson at 2-59 if his medicals checkout. Some team will probably pick him before that though. 1-23 is to much risk, IMHO.
Cody Stoots said a trade down makes the most sense. Maybe someone wants an OL or wants to trade up from the early 2nd round to get Penix or Nix. Or maybe someone wants a WR that we don’t rate high. He thinks that the drop off in CB this class from QM and TA to the next tier is pretty big. So if say the Lions want Wiggins or Kool Aid and they don’t think they’ll be available in the 2nd yeah make the trade. However if by some stroke of luck B Murphy is there at 23, you hand that card in faster than Anoinio Cromarte can impregnate a woman.
https://theathletic.com/5314966/2024/03/05/nfl-mock-draft-2024-jayden-daniels-quarterbacks/ 23. Houston Texans (from CLE): Laiatu Latu, Edge, UCLA Latu will be a Round 1 wild card, because of his medicals and his good, but not great, athletic profile. However, the Texans and general manager Nic Caserio have been comfortable rolling the dice on medical risks in the past, and they value tape over testing when it comes to draft picks. Given the way he competes, Latu feels like DeMeco Ryans’ type of guy.
