If Jalen can only be successful by shooting 6/12 from long range, he's doomed to fail because that isn't sustainable for him. Tonight proved to me beyond much doubt his place in the NBA is a gun off the bench. When he shoots well, he gets lots of floor time and closes. Otherwise, he sits. He's not the kind of player a team can depend on each and every game.
He wasn’t only successful because he shot 50% from 3. If you watched the game, you’d understand that point.
I watched the game. He competed hard on both ends. We both know he doesn't do that very often. LOL, if the Rockets played the soft Suns every night, Jalen might average 30.
The funny thing is the same people discrediting the stretch of games where he was averaging 25+ ppg 5+ apg on like 60% ts but on like 30% 3pt shooting.
I didn't discredit those games. I used them as ammo against people who said the Rockets should trade Jalen while he still had value. My point then was the Rockets may as well give him the final 35 games to see if he could continue the production. I said the Rockets should forget his struggles before Christmas and judge him by the last half of the season.
He has these bursts of good games. He had a week at the end of January where he was playing the best ball of his career, high effort and competing. I thought maybe he had turned a corner after that, but nope. Right back to the same brand of basketball, mediocre effort, inconsistent shooting and frequent disengagement.
Yep. He's streaky, the issue is his low points are usually really bad because the TOs and bad shot selection. Every player goes through these stints, I know Curry was recently on a poor shooting stretch but he wasn't compounding it with TOs and poor shot selection. He just has to play smarter a lot of times. I really hope he can finish the season off this way and make the idea of trading him look silly but honestly I'm expecting the poor game. Especially against Wemby because Jalen seems to just attack the rim the same no matter who is down there and we know Wemby will be stuff him I really want it to click for him. He's like the prototypical NBA star and when he's on like he was last night its just so tempting to hope that it clicks.
Some of y'all are masochists. Even when we win y'all find things to complain about. Anyways Jalen hates the Suns confirmed.
His best games come when there is not much on the line, like when we were already on the brink of getting out of the Play In.
Reality is this was just one game, albeit one of the best of his career. If he starts playing like this in at least half his games the rest of the season and carries that into next year I might start to change my views on him. Nice job tonight though
It makes my posting easier for sure, I do not have to go into endless Jalen Green threads and can go to other areas of the forum.
