If Ime challenges the call and wins after Sengun gets ejected. Does he get to comeback into the game the technicals revoked? That woulda been something .
You're applying built-up frustration and emotion throughout the season (of which we seemingly agree on) to a single game where it doesn't directly apply. I don't think his play was the problem for our team tonight, only FVV and Landale scored more efficiently than Jalen. Landale can't create shots, so your question of who else could have scored 35 points on 28 shots for tonight, is only FVV IMO. Sorry.
He doesn't sound like Silas at all. Alpi was not good tonight and he gets bullied too often by stronger players.
I had no problem with Jalen other than him taking the most shots .......also note that Jalen is good against jump shooting teams.....without a great weak side helping big or wing. Alpe was in foul trouble and Jabari was not taking shots which is fine as well. Dillon, well, Dillon...no comments.
Its always Alpi though no matter how anyone else plays. Thats like SIlas im sorry. He is just a defensive minded Silas to me. Still having Jalen as a starter always crying about Alpy. Overplaying sucky vets. Im already over Ime's no offense ass. Stone cant seem to hire a coach that can do more than just one thing.
I guess we just saw things differently this game. You misunderstood the question at the end though. Jalen is the only one who'd score BELOW 35 points by taking 28 shots.
I don't think I did, I responded to exactly that just with some irrelevantly altered wording. Me saying I think Fred would be the only one who could have realistically scored 35 points on 28 shots is the rebuttal. You think everybody would have scored more points than Jalen did on that many shots, and I'm saying no, only Fred.
Alpe didn't play great but I feel like he was starved of opportunity, first by the ticky tack fouls he was getting called for and second by the team not running much through him. Hopefully he'll bounce back stronger in 48 hours
How is our offense worse than under Silas is beyond me. Yes we're shooting terribly from 3, but that's not the only issue. Seems Silas more free flowing offense suited certain players, Green in particular more, than perhaps a system Ime is forcing onto the team. We've all been discussing how Ime is definitely not playing to our guys strength. And the offense through Sengun is just not happening as often, because teams have managed to take it away. It was also not working because our 3pt shooting is awful and therefore spacing terrible. But I remember even under Silas spacing being poor, yet we managed to score on a regular basis. That 1st quarter where we only had 12 points, 8 by Green and nothing really coming from anything particular set - though they did run a few for Green which was nice to see. That should not be possible with the athleticism and talent we have. We should've worked on adjusting to teams taking away the Sengun hub and if we did, then we sure as hell are not executing it well. I'm also noticing increasing frustration with our guys, directed at officials and opponents rather than themselves. I also see guys trying to get theirs, Jabari, Green & Cam as main culprits. But outside of Cam who just has tunnel vision and tries to get his, I also sense that they're frustrated with lack of touches and managing to get good looks. Not saying they are out there playing selfish, but there's definitely moments where you can see guys trying to get theirs rather than play team ball. The whole referees were against us is laughable to me. Yes Sengun should not have been called for a foul, but cannot just charge at an official like that. Even moreso, the fact that the main official was smirking when he said the challenge is successful is simply because he got booed like crazy for the Cam - Booker situation, which they got right by modern standards to call double Ts and Book fouled Cam so - and was likely anticipating their reaction this time around. He also could've been cussed out and whatever else and was just knew whatever they were saying before - that he was maybe whistling in favor of the Rockets, screwing it up, being unfair, had $ on the game and whatever else - they would not be saying now. Refs are human, give me a break over analyzing that facial expression. Even my interpretation is one out of many possibilities. This game in any case was not on the refs, not on our defense, but again due to our atrocious offense. The amount of quick shots we take without anyone touching the ball once it gets to half-court, not a fast break, and or the amount of plays where one guy is doing his own thing in looking to score is way too high to my liking. This was fine under Silas without veterans where you're not trying to win. Not sure if they're instructed to pass it around and look for the open guy is really preached in practice. I have the sense given the evidence it isn't a priority, but rather just set picks and look for open guys. Maybe this season is just seeing how well our guys can adjust to the type of offense Ime likes to run or wants to see, but in this day and age, I think you cannot just have a system and see who fits. Need to at least mix in some plays and sets to maximize their talent. We're just not doing that enough.
Alpi is a better man than I am. If I have to watch one of the worst shooting guards in the league takes 28 shots while I barely touch the ball on offense, I'm not wrestling with Nurkic on the other end.
Agree on observations that other guys are looking for theirs based on lack of touches. Offense improvements is needed. But Silas' offense last year did not yield better results. Last year Silas off RTG was 27th (110.5). Right now we're 24th (112.2). We can circle back at the end of season to see where the team lands, but last year was not better.
All right, watched the game. Incredibly shortsighted to let Jalen play 39 minutes and jack up 28 shots and 17 three-pointers just because he happened to start the first half hot. Nobody played well offensively, but they didn't get much chance to after Green sucked all the oxygen out of our offense, now did they?
