I don’t believe in collective punishments, and I recognize the cognitive dissonance of wanting peace in the region. Neither the right wingers in Palestine nor Israel recognize each others right to exist and that’s a recipe for perpetual conflict until one “wins”.
Israel has no problem with the Gaza right to exist. If There wasn’t a militarized build up with complex tunnels and Hamas mishandling of aid - that was built on specific terror- I’m sure things would be different
The IDF has controlled the tempo of the conflict from the border breach itself. If Israeli and western intelligence sources are to be believed, there were warnings from both Israeli soldiers on the ground and Egyptian Intelligence that Hamas was going to attack that day and it had to be a deliberate decision to not react by higher ups until 1000+ Israelis were killed so they could justify the retaliation throughout Gaza.
If Israel pulled mangled dead women into Israel in the back of a truck with cheering citizens , I would have condemned Israel. .. But I’m seeing a distinction where Israel tried to make efforts…what did Hamas do to make efforts of peace and not initiating terror acts ?
Average Israelis may have no issue, but Israel is run by a coalition that by and large does not represent the average Israeli. It’s the conservatives in power who proudly proclaim Israel from river to sea. It’s a mantra.
This is Gaza now - and before the war, it was already one of the poorest and shittiest places on the planet to live.
What do you think would happen if Hamas completely put down their weapons and Built up a paradise in Gaza instead of a terror hell hole…Do you think Israel would just roll and kill everyone no I don’t buy that…Now imagine what would happen if Israel put all their weapons down exactly
There would be empowerment of a different terror branch in the strip. Both Likud and Hamas’ rise were born out of the Oslo peace accords.
Exactly and Hamas started a war. The IDF Is trying its best dealing with complex tunnels and blasphemous Gaza ministry of health ran by terrorists as a credible source reposted on news sites If this was about collective punishment towards gazans for propping Hamas , then we would see 2 million dead…
Killing Hamas certainly helps demilitarizing Gaza certainly helps- Going forward there should be checks and balances on what is being built in Gaza that is what God earned with October 7 let’s stop the radical Islamic teachings will also help. Get the pride teachers over there. Teach the children about trans rights and loving differences and respecting pronouns @tinman
Hijacking a plane with several hundred people on it and stating that you will blow up the plane and kill everyone aboard if your wants are not met isn't peaceful at all. In fact it is horrifying.
Ask those Ralph Nader voters in 2000 how that turned out - with the whole Patriot Act, 20 years of continuous war, war in multiple countries, the USA invading another nation across the globe based on known lies to the American people and the US allies - destabilization in the Middle East and the attempted destruction of NATO...... the complete errosion of out constitutional democracy. But - I guess being angry at Al Gore was worth it.
So Gaza is going to be a giant concentration camp that looks like 1944 Warsaw in 6 months. I'm sure that's gonna work out great.
US foreign policy ever since 9-11 in the Middle East has been a folly and done nothing but empower Iran. Iraq was a buffer between Iran and Saudi Arabia, and Iran and Palestine/Israel. The US gutted Iraq, then left - and all it did was allow Iran to have free run in Iraq and to influence the direction Iran is taking. Now Iranian terrorists can easily cut through Iraq and enter Palestine and other areas of the world to fight American backed causes. The Houthis' are supported by Iran, and they have swelled because of the US backing of Saudi Arabia. They are now spreading and attacking US interests. The backing of Israel has only fanned the flames - and Israel is not even that faithful. There are some successes - Kuwait, Jordan and Israel to some extent - but overall it has been an unnecessary blunder and I can completely understand the resentment of the West and the USA in the Middle East.... and even that isn't culturally understood by the USA.... while there are a lot of Middle Eastern Muslims that hate the USA, it breaks down on religion denominational grounds, and there are even more Muslims that are indifferent to the USA or feels that the fundamentalists are worse than the USA. Contrary to what many believe, not everyone in the Middle East is unreasonable, or overly religious - I have met a LOT of atheists or supporters of Islamic secularism that cannot express their views because of the oppressive positions of their fundamentalist leaders.
Iraq was a direct threat to Israel and the Saudis and was a real contender to dominate the Arab speaking peoples through brutal Iraqi impealism, so Saddam had to go. Saddam’s government was funding the suicide bombers families. Iraq has attacked Israel more than Iran ever has.
