Every time an illegal commits murder or a violent crime the fear mongering begins. The facts are the facts. Illegals don't commit more violent crimes than US citizens. There are over 45 homicides per day, and the vast majority of them are committed by American citizens.

Is Trump a racist lying fear monger?

    His rant.....

Vicious gangs and gang members are pouring into our Country from South America, and from all over the World. They are being FORCED out of their Countries, in particular Venezuela and Mexico, and DEPOSITED into the Good Ole’ USA by the tens of thousands. But here’s the “wrinkle.” THEY REFUSE TO TAKE THESE CRIMINALS BACK. They think Biden and his Administration are a JOKE! “They go after TRUMP, but they leave us alone. We can do whatever we want,” one of them recently stated. Not being able to bring the worst of humanity back to where they came from is a BIG problem for the U.S. Biden will NEVER be able to handle it. This is a COUNTRY DESTROYING EVENT!!! Just think of it — Foreign countries will be sending us their WORST, Gang Members, Murderers, Drug Dealers, Human Traffickers, Terrorists, their Mentally ILL, and even others, sick people, who need large scale medical help, and they have told the World, “WE WILL NEVER TAKE THEM BACK.” Biden is destroying our Country — “GO AFTER TRUMP!”

It's interesting that even though Trump and the MAGA folks claim about millions of dangerous illegals have poured across the border that homicides went down last year.

There were about 13% fewer homicides in the U.S. in 2023 compared with 2022. There were 21,156 homicides in 2022.

Violent crime is dropping fast in the U.S. — even if Americans don't believe it

Undocumented Immigrants Are Half as Likely to Be Arrested for Violent Crimes as U.S.-Born Citizens

One contributing factor may be that individuals who emigrate from other countries to the U.S. are highly self-motivated and intrinsically less likely to commit crime. It is also possible that immigrants fear deportation if they are caught, so they are more careful to follow laws.

There is absolutely no proof that illegal immigrants commit more crime per capital than US citizens.

Devil's advocate: it's not about committing fewer crimes per capita, but rather additional crimes being committed that shouldn't have happened.

If they are legal, then it's an acceptable risk and no one would bother.

Because of this (illegal crimes is good politic), you can now understand why politicians have a high incentive to not solve this issue - to neither legalize nor reduce illegal immigrants. This is hot politics, and Trump and Republicans turned down a golden opportunity to help reduce illegal immigration by rejecting the bipartisan immigration reform bill.

IMO, Democrats need to do a better job understanding the politics around this, the incentive behind it, and at the same time, acknowledge the issues it presents. They should also absolutely go on the offensive and blame Trump and Republicans for perpetuating the issue, harming Americans and our immigration system because it's good politics for them.

MAGA folks don't say it like that though do they? They don't say if we had less people in the US we would have less crime. They act like immigrants are the ones that are violent murderers. Out of say 45 murders a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, if a few illegals kill someone then they will be pointed out as the danger to our country, and the stereotype of all people coming across our southern border.

The people who keep blaming this on Biden seem to forget the times it happened while Trump was President.

No, of course, they don't. IMO: Fighting that stereotyping is a winless game if all you do is defend the group. The non-MAGA are the ones you want to talk to, and while you should push back on the stereotyping, you should also acknowledge the genuine (not MAGA-generated) issue and be solution-oriented.

I see Fox News articles in my news feed daily pointing out every single time an illegal immigrant is arrested Despite illegal immigrants committing crimes at a lower rate than U.S.citizens.

I've also noticed that they do the same thing with teachers being arrested for sex crimes with minors, despite the fact that those working for Churches are actually arrested for sex crimes with minors slightly more often.

What is the GOP solution, other than voting no to border funding? Waiting until their psycho Trump or some other GOP politician becomes President?

As a group, they have no interest in solving this issue. They are playing politics. Trump and GOP leaders are openly honest about it being good politics for the 2024 election.

I doubt most Americans would actually like what would happen to our economy and society if all of illegal aliens were suddenly deported.

If you were to ask me the same question, in theory I agree that if you are not documented you should not be here, but the reality is we count on quite a few of these workers to do so many jobs that "we" don't want or don't pay enough. I don't think its a black and white issue, there are several shades of gray. I have seen quite a few illegals in slaughterhouses from Neb to Iowa to Minn to Colorado that count on these people and closer to home I have a brother who employees several just outside of Dallas on his ranch as to all of his friends. I don't think it's as easy as to say, "get rid of only the bad apples", but I would like to see some type of path to citizenship for people who currently work.

I’ve seen first hand what even the threat of mass deportation can do to a construction project. If the millions of those immigrants are deported it will likely collapse our construction, meat packing and agricultural industry.

To do what Trump is proposing, round up all the illegal immigrants, put them into mass detention centers, and then ship them out will also cost billions.

I can agree that it’s not a good thing to have so many people in this country not properly documented and integrated. That is a problems though that our immigration laws are currently vastly out of touch with economic and geopolitical reality. If we can bring our laws more in line with reality it will benefit us economically and also make us safer by reducing the demand for a black market of immigration.

You want to "clean up" illegal immigration without collapsing the economy. Do it smartly, not ideologically or blindly. We saw a small preview of that in Georgia a few years ago.

Don't forget, according to Rump, 100% of the jobs created during Biden's 1st term have gone to "illegals."

^Thanks @NewRoxFan for first sharing that.

**** anybody that can't see that Mexicans, even those here illegally, are human beings. Including those that talk out of both sides of their mouth. We know what you're about.

Trump is shouting into the void. There is no way he would do this. There is no way the money backing him would allow this. There is too much money in "illegal" labor to be lost.

A similar discussion had much more nuance in this thread Chicago locals not happy about bussed immigrant housing plan.

From a detached POV, we should uphold all laws we pass or take down the ones we don't want.

Illegal immigrants exist in a grey area that is both beneficial and harmful for both sides of the aisle. Cheap labor which is good for economic cons, but carries the ideologically repelling stigma of Second Class non-Citizens for libs. Though them staying here after getting caught is favorable for humanitarian libs, but offputting for Rule of Law and cultural Cons.

I don't think the current progressive policy of "looking the other way" or not-enforcing/decriminalizing existing laws is sustainable, ethically justifiable, or even realistic. Civil servants get paid for job responsibilities of their position, but "nahhh just because I don't like it or deem Morally Responsible, then I'm gonna do ****-all about it while getting paid"?

Maybe they're better off supergluing their asses on the doorsteps of some building rather than wasting everyone's time and money, while compounding the gravity of the situation with their inaction/incompetence?

OTOH, con ideologues will sabotage, grift, and implode the institutions they run and don't like.

A once functional and trusted bureacracy in the 70s is now cluster**** sprawl that neither side wants to take responsibility in improving.

The other (dis)incentive to address illegal immigration is that preventative acts are harder to measure and quantify. Laws like these are generally like metaphorical walls that age and decay over time.

With the way politics has become, nobody wants new walls they have to own and get penalized for its failures. So build less walls and pretend the existings ones work or blame the party that built them in the first place. And yes...the Mexican wall drama fits this to a T.

    Instant re-election!

The obvious and most practical solution is doing what Reagan did, increasing legal
Immigration, getting current immigrants here illegally a path to legality and then increasing border security and better funding immigration control.

Too many groups though are not using fear and /or pushing their own narrow interests to get to that solution.

Whether he can do it or not the threat of it causes a lot of problems. The situation I was talking about was in 2017 and early in the Trump term. We had a major a project that was held up for months and announces in cost of millions because the contractor couldn’t get dry wallers. The contractor said that because many dry wallers were people with immigration issues that the political situation had caused many to leave or go underground.

This was just one project but I’ve heard throughout the industry that this happened to several projects in many parts of this country.

You’re making my point. I will also add this isn’t just the Right that is problem. Groups on the Left who are absolutely against any border security measures make it difficult as those on the Right point to them to make rhetorical arguments about “open borders” and other overheated language.
